The SAT सत् SERIES is inspired by #Bitcoin and the Sanskrit character “sat” सत्. Each piece is a unique, solvable maze. “Sat” सत्
has deep and complex meanings connoting “absolute truth,” “reality,” an “the essence which is unchangeable.” By beautiful coincidence - if one believes in coincidences - the “sat” or “satoshi” (paying homage to bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto) is the name given to the smallest unit of a bitcoin (100M sats = 1 bitcoin). In the maze, the character सत्, with all its meanings, lies at the center, creating a gaol to be reached.
The maze as art is conceived as a unified expression of both sides of the creative brain. The making of the precise geometric shapes which give structure to the work requires Left Brain focus and a necessarily measured and premeditated approach. Conversely, the inner maze, both in its creation and its solving, is an organic, emergent, and emotive Right Brain exercise – it is an unpredictable wandering path and a mystery process of continuously improvised artistic expression and discovery for both the artist and the viewer alike. Together, these two approaches achieve balance and result in art that symbolizes the errant striving and perfect imperfections of one’s journey inwards towards the center in pursuit of Truth.

I don’t really keep track how many hours these take (that’s not the kind artist I want to be, at least not for these types of pieces 😄). The maze making kind happens on a bit of an art trance state. The magic takes as much or a little time as it takes.
All of these have come together in 1-3 weeks. If I have open time and clear vision the active paint-to-paper “making” possess might only need a few days. However most have required pre-attempts that show me the “right”direction by way of halfway completing an idea in the “wrong” direction.
I also find I may need a week or two of creative recharge / spiritual replenishment in between. They don’t always take that much time but they all take a lot of mana. Gotta take breaths ya know, can’t let making squiggly lines all day get ME squiggly lol
