I am quite blessed with having found some folks like that actually! It's not a whole lot, but I throughly enjoy the company. Been here for almost a year and seen some ups and downs. But, I do have my few peeps that I regularily interact with - which is neat! :)

Oh same here. Though I usually checked the bio; sometimes they picked that pfp because it was cool - i can understand that o.o So I ended up following just some bridged RSS feeds and people I found interesting.

I am currently trying out Snort's word filter (Settings -> Moderation). I literally just configured it - so, no idea how that'll go.

Primal also seems to have some settings.

Technically, there's also filter.nostr.wine but... requires both payment, and thus the whole rat's tail of needing lightning and the lot x.x

NoStrudel should also have some features in that direction; haven't checked though, but afaik the dev is super hard at improving this app, chances are he added it already, but I don't know the repo it is hosted at - Github Gitea or whichever - so I haven't really tracked it's commit history (thus, new features). ^^'

For those that can not self-host:

GMail -> Proton

Dropbox -> Any provider; but use RClone + Crypt layer.

Also:

LinkedIn -> Nostr. It's quite possible. :)

By all good means, it is either politics or bitcoin. I want to see more diversity, so I will try and find a way to achieve this - somehow. Yeah the coinage here is real strong, and due to the origins of nostr, it makes sense.

Having looked at Nootti, I think my ideal social media app would be a TweetDeck-like layout that hosts my Nostr, Instagram and perhaps BlueSky feeds and allow me to crosspost to them all. Theme each column based on the app, and create a central notification column to gather them all.

I think this'd genuely be my "killer app" for social media. With Nostr and ATProto, this'd be doable, Mastodon too but we can just use mostr.pub. Insta is probably not that "easy". xD

But hey, it'd be cool!

Imagine living in a country that is actively in war, and your government asks you to "live normaly" when there is no attack ongoing and you are sent to shelter. That is apparently the situation. And when a "calm time" comes, people play games to keep themselves somewhat... happy, i guess. This brutal realization struck me out of nowhere.

I have nothing but fond memories of Genshin with my friends - but for these players over there, it is their escape.
