Some amazing basketball in the Men’s Olympic Quarter Finals today. Unfortunately only caught highlights for the most exciting games.
France with the upset! Serbia going into overtime to secure the win. Germany coming back after going down big!

Wanted to show someone https://craigslist.org/, the first link did not disappoint.

No basketball today, but group phase is over and quarter finals of olympic basketball starts tomorrow! I'm hyped!
Let's go men's team USA and team Germany! Go women's team USA and team Spain!

Spanish women’s basketball 🏀 team again with the close and super exciting game resulting in a win. I know team USA is the heavy favorite for gold; I’m routing Spanish for silver.

My weekend recovering on the couch from a virus 🤒 was saved by marathoning Olympics coverage (yes in a feverish blur I accidentally bought Disney+ first instead of Discovery+).
Been enjoying Men’s and Women’s basketball the most. Women’s game Spain 🇪🇸 vs China 🇨🇳 was the most exciting. Seeing Megan Gustafson (also from a small town in Wisconsin like me) go up against the huge Chinese bigs was epic. Nice overtime win.

My wife makes nice drinks. Bumble.

LEBRON! Another classic take over in the 4th quarter. As this is probably his last Olympics I’m hoping he goes out with a bang.

The Race for the Galaxy 🌌 was fun last night. Glad I got it. With ~8 expansions, it should be fun for quite some time.

Tried to use tRPC to communicate between two backend service. Nope.
The appRouter type has to be shared between the projects. Either with some hacky type generation and copy paste or another repo shared repo bringing dependency problems. Just nope. tRPC is not ready for prime time in the use case of backend service communication. Going back to GraphQL or simply REST.

HTMX is the next big thing. Just watch a talk at We Developers Conference and I’m convinced.

Had a friend some years ago who worked for Circle CI. At that time, the main programming language there was Clojure. Always found that cool. Just learned they have switched to Go and TypeScript. 🥲

Woh, so many English language bookshops in Berlin!
Picked up some photography assignments. I can sense another photography month coming. This time black and white.
Also Russian civilian perspective on the war.

Liking the DIY nature of permacomputing and many of the projects like UXN, but the dooms day rhetoric is little weird.
I’m here to check out everyone’s cool projects. Oh wait are we digital preppers?

Playing Tchia on Xbox. Super cute game, love the island sunset vibes.
Eventually you get a small raft to sail. Spent 10 min playing with the controller trying to figure out how to control the speed. Only to find out it’s not a button. You have to let go of the rutter, walk over to the sail, and raise or lower it. Magic!
Woh U.S. colleges will finally pay there athletes!?! This is huge.
It is super sad to see a rising athletes career get cut short because of injuries at the college level. At least now they should make it out with a big paycheck.
Also interesting what this will mean for the NBA draft. If you are projected to be a second round pick, why not stay in school as long as the money is flowing.
Living in Germany I'm exposed to FIBA basketball (not that I watch it). Paid college players could further weaken European basketball by attracting more talent to the US.

Didn’t realize how dominant the US Woman’s basketball team is!?
“They have no Olympic losses since 1992”
How is that even possible!?
Looking forward to watching them this summer (on TV, I may live in Europe but actually going is out of my budget)

Here is the source code for the fetcher AWS Lambda functions I use to poll for nostr posts and save them to PocketBase.
https://git.sr.ht/~travisshears/micro_blog_repo_fetchers\
Also supports Mastodon, Pixelfed, and BlueSky. Why pick when you can use them all.

My nostr posts are now on my personal site!
They are now joined in a feed with Mastodon, Pixelfed, BlueSky, and my old Pleroma posts.

I want to try one time pad encryption. Seems so cool! Perfect security, KGB sleeper communication, and flash burn paper?!?
Just need to convince my partner to decrypt my message.
