I'm seeing parallels in centralization tendencies in the hardware for both #Bitcoin mining and AI. I think that if localized manufacturing can become sophisticated enough and used more widely, it could solve this problem.

What do you think?

A publication I had the pleasure of editing recently: a debate on #Bitcoin vs. fiat vs. gold.

It includes essays from OG private money economists Lawrence White and George Selgin, Joakim Book, Peter Šurda, and myself.

Hi Nostr world,

I am looking for a chart showing the increase in zaps over Nostr over time. I have found explorers showing me the present number of zaps but not a chart showing the change.

Recommendations?

Thank you.

My latest article for AIER, “The Mating of Economic Ideas and Bitcoin”, exploring economists Lawrence H. White and George Selgin's influences on Cypherpunks Nick Szabo and Hal Finney:

Glad it resonates!

Check out the others if you haven't already... I've documented Bitcoin's influences of the following individuals so far: economists FA Hayek, David. D. Friedman, Lawrence H. White & George Selgin, philospher Ayn Rand (as you know), as well as science fiction authors Robert Heinlein & Vernor Vinge.

Hi Luke: Thank you for the kind introduction.

Hi Pablo: Very nice to be introduced to you. Will send you a DM.

My 3rd of 3 articles (so far) focusing on the climate of ideas that eventually led to what we now call "Bitcoin".

This one focuses on: (1) economist David D. Friedman's work on anarcho-capitalism and (2) the science fiction works of Robert Heinlein and Vernor. I show how they inspired the 'crypto-anarchy' of influential Cypherpunks Timothy C. May and Wei Dai.

My 2nd of 3 articles (so far) focusing on the climate of ideas that eventually led to what we now call "Bitcoin".

This one focuses on the philosopher Ayn Rand's concept of a hidden away place called "Galt's Gulch," which Cypherpunk Timothy C. May believed could be built better in cyberspace using mathematics and open source code than in real space.

My 1st of 3 articles (so far) focusing on the climate of ideas that eventually led to what we now call "#Bitcoin".

This one focuses on Hayek's work on competition in money:

My conclusion on Mises' regression theorem:

It a useful framework for understanding how a good can emerge as a medium of exchange, but Mises was wrong that a good could not become a medium of exchange without adhering to the theorem. His theorem also violates the subjective theory of value.
