Without affordable oil, the next cheapest thing isn't wood or coal, I think it is human slaves. So slavery will be reinvented. Especially in places with more humans.

Think nuclear fission reactors will help? No.

We have to build 1031 nuclear reactors per year for 45 years

* 439 nuclear reactors exist on Earth which generate 2796 TWh. So that is an average 6.3690205011 TWh per nuclear reactor

* Oil + Coal + Gas + Firewood generate 147872 TWh

* So we need 147872 / 6.3690205011 = 23217 nuclear reactors.

* And in the next 45 years the world will consume twice the energy it consumes today.

* So in 45 years the world needs: 46434 nuclear reactors

* That means the world has to build:1031 nuclear reactors per year.

* Currently the world is building:55 nuclear reactors

* It takes 10 years to build an average nuclear reactor like the 439 that exist today.

* That means we have to start 10,000 new nuclear reactor projects today to meet the target.

There is a village in north east India (forgot the name) where rats overbreed every time there is a bamboo outgrowth, these black rats breed so fast it is like a chain reaction. They eat all the bamboo and start invading human villages and eat human food harvests and cause famine and kill humans. The rats also die soon after.

Peak cheap energy is like that for humans. We breed like these rats when there is cheap energy and then die out as soon as energy is expensive

Despite this circumstance we have a bubble here (at least I think we do): Bitcoin, anti-state, libertarian, maybe a tendency towards the right?

Of course there are technical, historical and other good reasons for this.
