Christ cites the Old Testament as inspired Scripture, and the Old Testament condemns buggery.

Them saying "Jesus didn't condemn it" as though they were disciplined "Red Letter Christians" is also laughable. If you read John 14:6 to them, or any of the passages in Matthew when our Lord talks about coming back to slaughter all His enemies, they'll suddenly become textual critics.

If you're going to put your life at risk for stupid wars and sign up to be treated like trash for a few years, the Navy is going to be your best option.

Pros:

-You don't do forced marches on a boat.

-You don't get blown up by IEDs on a boat.

-You don't get shot by small arms on a boat.

-If your boat gets blown up, either your death is relatively quick or you have a high chance of survival.

-It's the hardest working branch of the military, so you learn good discipline that you take with you everywhere.

-Sea pay, hazardous duty pay, plus a whole bunch of other little bonus pays stack up well over time. Since you'll be deployed more than anyone else in the military, you'll get paid more than most enlisted.

-Cool dress uniforms.

-Some of the stuff you do on behalf of your country is cool and good.

Cons:

-Surface Navy is home to lots of drug ring and prostitution scandals.

-Submarine Navy is full of people ready to snap. When it became co-ed it got worse.

-Land Navy (seabees, etc.) get shot at.

-Hospital Navy is intolerably bored.

-Constant political games and backstabbing in the chief and officer world. Enlisted are the victims of this and there's nothing you can do.

-You never stop working, even when you get out. I had dreams about working every night for two years after I was out of the Navy.

-You will not see your family very much. The Navy is your father now and then sea is your mother.

-Drydock happens. That is the single worst experience you will ever have in your professional career.

-Dealing with stressed out, unreasonable people all day every day.

-Most of the stuff you do on behalf of your country is either pointless or bad.

-Terrible work uniforms. BRING BACK THE BELL BOTTOMS AND DIXIE CUPS - HECK I WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE PRISON GUARD OUTFITS.

-The VA hates you and wants you to die. When you get out, they will try to ruin your life and make sure you are denied all your benefits. You have to see them as a necessary adversary, like an evil-but-rich step parent.

So matt harrison got reelected as president of the LCMS. No surprises there.

Expect a lot of the usual people to spike the football and rub it in your face. If you haven't been learning to smile through it, now is a good time to start.

The fun thing is, I have to wonder whether his reelection is because so many layman are ignorant of the controversies, or whether it's because so many people have left the lcms that would have voted otherwise. I suppose it doesn't matter, since the status quo facade has been maintained.

My advice is to not get upset. Even if that mustachioed dork cheated his way to a fifth term, who cares? Nothing changes really. You should still leave if your church hates you. You should be ready to join the Catacomb Synod if the missouri people discover that you are one of those actual Lutherans that they hate so much.

I had an unfortunately extended deload week and it ticked me off so I now I'm a pile of sweaty gym clothes and all is right with my world.

Kicking brings me joy, you should try it sometime.

They really resent that Scripture pins the murder on them as a people. It's hard to imagine race that truly believes they've never done anything bad, but jews certainly seem unable to own any wrong they've ever done
