Getting rid of follower metrics fixes this. Because then you have no idea how many people you are speaking to. Maybe just a rough idea. This is surprisingly an easy way to get rid of most of self-censorship. You’ll still have it unless you’re anon
After a hard day.

As nice as this sounds, most people are self-censoring. Once the following grows, you have to unless you’re 100% anonymous. But even then, you self-censor to persona.
Imagine being so far gone you’re mad when someone says you should probably trust the people and stop trying to control them.
Of course, we don’t amplify rage. All I’m saying is it’s not always good vibes. Sometimes it just math and chance.
Large part of it is emotional amplification. People share what speaks to them emotionally but sometimes it’s just a pure numbers game. Enough connections x a fairly pleasant non-controversial note = trending. Case in point - Odell’s gm notes

Go fuck yourself.
Jk. Good afternoon.
I murdered my ego and it feels great.
Family gathering.

Now extend this to 300 million people. Should one person speak for all of them?
In life, a person can join a circle of friends in a conversation without explicit approval of the circle or any one individual. And if those people like what is added to conversation, they’ll be inclined to hear more. There are no follower counts or even any indicator of reach of any given person.
This could be replicated online without the need to follow anyone. Show notes from people you’ve interacted with and add the ability to show fewer notes if desired. Extend conversations to x degree of connection (other people the person you’re interacting with has interacted).
No explicit relationships or status - just people talking to people.
The friend feed.
Ok that doesn’t make sense lol
Stop subsidizing poisonous food. Let the people poison themselves cheaply.
