#sideusupdate desktop edition

so I threw together a .app build for those who want to use the mobile version on desktop but with #zaps… when nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 freedom edition drops updates to #sideus desktop will cease. Some things like multi-photo carousel’s are very funky with or with out #zaps I find it works best as thin as possible like a really long iPhone resolution.

awesome, thanks for reporting back, I’ll probably start releasing these until damus releases their official “freedom” version.

I read that altstore 2.0. which should be ready by the time Sonoma is out of beta, is suppose to also sign .ipa’s for macOS a bit like https://playcover.io . Oddly every build of damus/sideus I’ve thrown at playcover runs but has resolution and touch screen to mouse issues, else I would recommend that over doing an .app build.

I did leave a desktop version running today hoping it would just continually pour in and i noted it did stop.

we has “nozaps” false we need “nobandwidth” false

I did test it out, I could release a .app version, there’s some stuff like image carousels that acts a bit funky with a mouse, but that’s how it is on the TestFlight version.

I tested it on a separate account, that shouldn’t recognize my dev cert, would love to know if you run into a verified issue or it asks to allow app or what not.

the whole legacy system has been sus for quite some time, Elon gonna piss a lot of people off, and hopefully this is just a start, but it will make their product better, even if by the time that’s all fixed, and all the people doing favors and accepting diners and under table cash are fired, protocols, and a distributed system, that by nature can’t build the same expectations that legacy new media falsely used to sell the public to advertisers, have matured to replace the whole thing.

he didn’t sell it which should be applauded, most accounts like this on legacy social media, like @dogs or @birb have changed hands multiple times despite it being against tos.

dude seems to have found success with a non profit, ironically called, life happens, that does life insurance education? judgments of that industry aside, good for him, and hard to tell what side of that they on from a quick dig. I can’t imagine any of these smo optimized account producers think they totally in the clear when they land on an optimized handle, After 16 years of head turning from algo overlords to preying on the lowest common denominator who types the word music into the search bar, it’s understandable to be surprised. Can’t knock the hustle, but you’d think in that process you would look for a url, and find music . com taken by the industry and start to craft a brand that you promote through being @music

The idea that one would sit on @music for 16 years and not have built a unique brand in that time but still care… I think it’s noble he didn’t sell the handle when it went unused. if there was a way for X to act on those who broke tos who did, and act on those who payola’d their way to checkmarks, I would appluad that action in the confines of the product they offer, even if I prefer my social media not as a product but a protocol.

this process should get easier over time. I don’t like that it took regulation from governments to accomplish. The law passed but March 6, 2024 is the compliance date.
