🎥 New Video Alert! 💪🏼
I joined 21 men on a secluded beach exploring the essence of masculinity.
Is masculinity toxic? Should we return to more traditional roles?
Full Video: https://youtu.be/g4hBz9IzLBM
While I very much agree that traditional masculinity had important values and roles, I find the whole premise of your video too simplistic and reductionist ... The premise of the video is established at about 50 seconds in, where you state that traditionally all men knew how to live fulfilling lives ... how do you know? Which tradition do you mean? There are many traditions where most men were simply slaves to others. How many times in history do you think that men were really in this ideal situation that you’re trying to use as a premise? And then what percentage of men could live in that „automatically“ fulfilled way, because they simply knew how to be a man?
I think that what you’re trying to say is that men have innate tendencies that are different than womens and that current mainstream culture is telling them to disregard these deeper meaning of masculinity in favor of external dogmas.
Let me know if you want further feedback ...
I love Jonathan Haidt ...
the episode with James Lindsay was amazing as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IlRNjBQm5Y
Whats useless about the "new to you" algo? ... do you mean it's useless for seeing content outside of ones bubble? Or do you see such a feature as useless per se?
No need to be sorry ... what's a source of news that you actually think IS serious?
Same story is all over german news: Spiegel and Heise are pretty serious outlets ...
This is such a thought-inspiring book:
„Strange New World: How Thinkers and Activists Redefined Identity and Sparked the Sexual Revolution“ by Carl R. Trueman.
It is the condensed version of his previous work „The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self: Cultural Amnesia, Expressive Individualism, and the Road to Sexual Revolution“.
I'm not a real christian, but find the christian perspective very beneficial nevertheless. Here's the summary from Goodreads:
How did the world arrive at its current, disorienting state of identity politics, and how should the church respond? Historian Carl R. Trueman shows how influences ranging from traditional institutions to technology and pornography moved modern culture toward an era of "expressive individualism." Investigating philosophies from the Romantics, Nietzsche, Marx, Wilde, Freud, and the New Left, he outlines the history of Western thought to the distinctly sexual direction of present-day identity politics, providing readers with a clearer understanding of the modern implications of these ideas on religion, free speech, and issues related to personal identity. For fans of Trueman's The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self, this new book offers a more concise presentation and application of some of the most critical topics of our day.
