What many people don’t know is that Latvians teached Russians the game which we know as Ice Hockey today. Back in a day it was called Canadian hockey here, Russians played bandy (hockey with a ball instead of puck) before. First Latvian ice hockey championship happened in 1932, first USSR hockey championship was in 1946.
