Went to the zoo with the kids and grandkids and I now I am just knocked out, feels like a sinus infection which always feels terrible but even more so in summer methinks. But it reminds me I need to get onto my cold/flu medicine making pantry as I'm blowing through the echinacea goldenseal tincture. Here's a cozy sweater I recently finished knitting for winter, so I guess that's at least one thing in the preps done.

No looks good though. https://chileflora.com is another useful one for hard to find seeds from Chile. They have such a wide range of climates and unique flora it's worth researching if there are seeds you can import. Got some macqui berry seeds from there hopefully they will be fruiting next year.
Thank you for the link! Always happy to find new plant sources π±
Hopefully they'll run through my orchard only when I expect them to π
Growing my own mushrooms is a goal I have. These came from a local grower π
Supper was an afternoon project. Potato-mushroom (wine caps) tarts, fried chicken (flour-pork rind mix), and a berry-mint shrub. The cookies will wait until we get home. I was thinking "I gave up my career for this?" And then the answer was "YES, and worth it every day." I love my family and there's nothing better than being on the home front.

I find it to be breed specific. We have milked Kinders and love their clean tasting milk. It still has a different taste than cow milk, but not as barn-y
You're one of them!
What a long day. Ended at the grocery store for a few things and about wanted to throw up when the bill was tallied. Even seasonings have gotten crazy expensive. It just underscored that my attempts to grow food and know who my farmers are is definitely not in vain. I'm not scared. Just buckling up.

Someday there will be a way to edit these posts. I believe that.
Ten jars of blueberry lime jam put away yesterday. I've got family coming in this weekend for a couple of weeks so it will be great to have the extra help AND take some time off to goof around (kayaking sounds good right about now). Scones in the oven to taste test this mix, and coffee on the way. Slow start to the day, but sometimes that's needed I think.

Do you know https://strictlymedicinalseeds.com/ always getting plants I'm not *supposed* to grow in my area!
Four jars of lacto fermented sliced pickles ready for the fridge. At this rate, I'm going to need a fridge *just* for the ferments. Today I got another bag of cucs for pickling--think I'll try whole ones next with a different recipe.

Yeah I need allll the plants that don't like sun for our area π
Ohhh never tried it with black tea. That sounds yummy.
Found this old fencing on the property--think I'm going to wrap it into a large circle and use it for composting. Lots of blackberries there behind it (and with attention hopefully will stay contained there).I read somewhere about using standing pipe in the compost for air circulation and water so I need to look into that. I have a lot of chip in my truck bed so it's time to get busy and take care of it. But first, coffee (finally).

The pig shelter is built, just needs a roof and then to be put into their area. Apples are dropping already so it will be great to give to them.
Also got some comfrey planted underneath one of the apple trees. I think I need to plant about a dozen more around the property.

The blackberries and apples are ripening so fall is on the way. I'm drying and putting herbs away. Buzz is keeping me company π
This is lemon verbena. I love it as an infusion mixed with milky oats and rose, or with lemongrass. Very calming and delicious, a taste of summer in January.
