Oh yeah, absolutely. But still, it's a massive news. Especially because it will lead other countries to do the same, effectively paving the path for an Hyperbitcoinization scenario, which is truly mindblowing stuff for me. Stuff of dreams :)
Just to reiterate this massive fact. The Trump administration plans to establish a "Bitcoin Purchase Program" of up to 200,000 BTC a year over a five-year period.
This will/would change everything.
It would be the beginning of the Bitcoin "arm's race" by bigger countries and institutions. The first country that does this will basically force other countries to adopt it. If it's the US first, even more so, because of their dominant position as the global reserve.
There are estimations that Bitcoin could rise to $140k within the next year or so, because of this.
Truly remarkable stuff. Truly Year 1 of institutional adoption.

Bitcoin is the predictable and high-growth savings asset everybody is looking for.
When more people realize this, we will have unrivalled economic opportunity at a global level.
Poor people are going to be able to have access to the same high-growth savings mechanism the very rich have. And that's just mindblowing.
Combining a growing asset with predictability, and a completely permissionless system will allow poor people to have hope AND control in a very uncertain world.
That's revolutionary. If we just have a little bit more of financial predictability, that will change everything for everyone. It would be in essence a light form of the Global Basic Income idea many people are pursuing. And one that can truly be paid for. :)

I truly woke up to Bitcoin this year and it took me years, lots of reading, researching to truly understand what it is about (and this coming from a technical background). I'm pretty sure millions will go through the same process in these next years.

Bitcoin will bring the collaboration that the world needs.
If everyone is saving in Bitcoin and we're all benefiting with all our neighbours innovation/productivity (on a local and global level), the need for very concentrated and explosive capital growth ventures will be less and less.
In other words, more people will start building things for everyone and not just for fast and/or more capitalized ventures. Just because they can, because they would have much less to lose than today.
Less risk = more opportunities for everyone.
This changes everything.
It's truly mindblowing to think about.

Yeah, I wonder if municipalities could start more digital efforts to streamline votes and/or polls, at the local level. I'm sure somewhere someone could start a kind of open source voting app to at least allow people to give their opinions and polls on every single legislation (at the municipal level).

They've touched the idea of which assets is Bitcoin really competing against.
Just the fact that we can use Bitcoin with a truly incredible velocity AND intelligence means it is in essence completely different than gold.
Bitcoin + AI + internet + open networks (Nostr, decentralized) = Very smart allocation of resources (and thus, a phenomenal amount of value generated as a whole)
Gold in comparison looks like a spoon in a kitchen somewhere. :)

For me what truly clicked was the everybody saving in Bitcoin idea.
Basically Bitcoin allows for the first time the poorest people in the world benefit from insider trade information on the richest people in the world.
It's in essence the best social security anyone can get, especially in poorer countries.
Maybe this position could help.
