One thing I can never quite make sense of is the fact that…

1. I have extremely strong beliefs

2. Many or most of the beliefs are out of step with modern culture

3. Holding these beliefs produce outsized results for me

4. Others claim to want outsized results

5. But if you share the beliefs that generate them people get upset

It’s a very confusing phenomenon

the last time that happened was Reagan and it only lasted for his first term

the machine just loves to get bigger and we the people beg it to do so

like the f-35, which is an idiotic idea in the age of drones. but it is being built piece by piece in almost every congressional district in the country so it provides jobs in every district so every congressman votes for it. how does one fight that?

they will make no progress to speak of on the budget because it's 1/3 interest on their defense and 1/3 free crap for old people. old people vote.

the military insures that we own the seas. We are in unintentional empire but it's too late to turn back the clock on that and if you do the world gets a very dangerous very fast

The journey down the rabbit hole to understand Bitcoin creates a cognitive dissonance in our minds where our former beliefs are challenged and disrupted.

A mental discomfort is created by trying to hold onto contradictory beliefs - (ie - Free market is deflationary + inflation is required to allow society to function) and then trying to rationalize previous beliefs.

That’s why it’s so hard for “experts” or those successful in the old system to see it.

But it’s not negotiating with them - it is imposing reality on them.

Microsoft shareholders did not approve a proposal asking the board to assess whether holding bitcoin on the company’s balance sheet would be beneficial. Not surprised at all though.
