Today is the first day of Brumalia. The festival honors Saturn, and is celebrated until the days start getting longer again after Saturnalia. I find it rather fitting that Brumalia starts on Black Friday this year, but that is a coincidence, and not always the case. #Paganism #Rome #grownostr

He ended the crises of the 3rd century, lost a prolonged fight again inflation, established the tetrarchy, reorganized the political and legal structure of the empire, transformed the legions, and tripled the size of the Roman State. History of Rome ... What does /his/ think about this podcast? Is it a decent primer to Roman history?
Thread: https://boards.4channel.org/his/thread/15751634

Yes, it is good. It starts slow, but had the best coverage of the 3rd century that I've found anywhere. I recommend a listen if your interested in diving into Roman History. Mike Duncan, the podcaster, also has a book on the late Republic which covers that period in much more depth, and had a solid premise: Storm Before the Storm the beginning of the end of the Roman Republic.
Today is the Equus October, which marks the end of the campaign season. If we followed ancient Roman rules, there would be no more military activity until March. The Equus October was celebrated with a horse race in which the winning horse was sacrificed to Mars. #Rome #history #paganism #grownostr
I've reached a similar conclusion by different logic. Might not be the textbook definition, but Fascism is a fork of Marxism in which the Marxist economic classes are replaced with demographic classes based on anything other than economics, and the economics are removed. Instead of capitalists and workers, you get nobles and commoners, or Jews and Germans, or white and black, or straight and gay, or whatever. That's why it's "national socialism" rather than "economic socialism". "Woke" seems to be fascist by this understanding.
