Building Arx, because private, sovereign networks matter ------ Developer, protocol tinkerer, neighborhood thought-criminal. email or http.

Hear me out, I know that nostr is built on top of http (and websockets), but the best way to describe nostr is as an internet protocol.

Just like email, nostr is client agnostic, you can connect to an email server using any client, you can use web clients like roundcubemail or gmail, or you can use desktop clients like thunderbird or outlook, heck you can even use cli clients like mutt.

Nostr is client-agnostic. You can connect to a Nostr relay using any client. You can use web clients like primal or nostrudel, you can use mobile apps like damus or amethyst etc.

This flexibility is what makes Nostr so powerful. It’s not tied to a single platform or interface. You have the freedom to choose how you want to interact with the protocol, just like how email allows you to choose your preferred client without being locked into a specific service.

Even normies can get on board with this concept when they realize that it's all about choice and accessibility. Nostr gives users the autonomy to select their interface and client based on their needs and preferences, making the user experience as personalized and efficient as possible.

Imagine explaining email to someone for the first time: you wouldn't focus solely on the underlying protocols like SMTP or IMAP; you'd emphasize the practicality—how it allows you to send messages, attach files, and stay connected, regardless of the client or service you use. The same principle applies to Nostr.

The world has literally gone crazy. How is that different than saying

"Car manufacturers can be held responsible for criminal activity when criminals use their cars to commit crimes and cannot be stopped or identified"

"Book publishers can be held responsible for criminal activity when criminals use information from their books to commit crimes and cannot be stopped or identified."

"Camera manufacturers can be held responsible for criminal activity when criminals use their cameras to surveil and plan illegal activities and cannot be stopped or identified."

1) too much of a hassle compared to zaps

2) too centralized

3) too many fees, impossible for micropayments

4) non librejs

Nothing is as good of an experience as zaps for both sender and receiver

Zapping people for providing value to you if such a better system than anything else on the internet. Sometimes when i find some useful content on the internet outside of nostr I get angry because I can't zap it.

I need ideas #plebs, how do we solve this problem?

#askstr #growstr #plebstr

sure, webp works well on most nostr clients (in fact I'd be surprised if I saw one where it doesn't work)

Remember, don't just HODL, SPEDN too, bitcoin isn't just a store of value, it's primarily a currency, use it as a replacement for the ponzi scheme we call fiat

gotta go to more bitcoin conferences then man

Turns out it happened, it was 6:09 am somewhere because it was at 00:09:32 UTC, so somewhere it was 6:09 am, we got the halving at 69 420

the halvening needs to happen at 6:09 (AM or PM) in some country. Think of the memes, it'd be 4/20 at 6:09

it's possible that one of the relays you use (or one of the ones I use) doesn't respect NIP-09

Well I can't delete your notes, but I just deleted the one you replied to for example.

Naturally, it's up to the relays whether to respect NIP-09 or not, but for any relay that does my previous note has been deleted

That's actually pretty cool. Did you take my profile picture, turn it into grayscale and run it through QRCode Monster?

Looking at git, no, rust with egui and eframe, much better performance than flutter (and depending on the device can be more performant than many "native" gui frameworks)
