The thing about AGI doomerism / kumbayaism is that the probabilities are unconstrained
There is no Bayesian prior
So I can't say which is more rational
What ppl are really arguing about is their fundamental outlook on life
Which seems a bit unproductive
The positivity on #nostr isn't just a nice-to-have
It's essential
Positivity produces the right decisions
Positivity creates an intolerance for injustice
Positivity makes ppl harder to control
You are more decisive
More rational
And you are better at building networks
It's the opposite end of the controllable-spectrum from fear, and particularly from paranoia
Every time you say good morning and good night you are building your freedom
Keep building and be happy warriors
Woot! My documentation on how to troubleshoot and resolve issues with the touchscreen of the #HestiaPi got accepted upstream.
https://github.com/HestiaPi/hestia-touch-openhab/pull/78
All open source projects should have good documentation and I'm proud to be the change I want to see in the world. π
This is honestly the work most needed in open source πͺ
Half way through putting the onions in to fry decided I wanted them raw now they're half and half not sure if that's a thing π€¦

Coding in Javascript after coding in Typescript feels barren and naked
In a very, very unsexy way
I've no idea what any of it means but I love listening to Bitcoiners talk about Bitcoin
There's a lyrical quality to the language
Blocks
Timechain
Ordinals
Mempool
Maybe one day I'll learn
The ultimate controversy
Light mode vs dark mode
There actually isn't a consensus on which mode *on average* is better for legibility and reducing fatigue
In either case it depends on the individual, their environment and device and what they're looking at and for how long
As someone who is astigmatic and finds light mode easier to read this was interesting:
"People with astigmatism (aproximately 50% of the population) find it harder to read white text on black than black text on white. Part of this has to do with light levels: with a bright display (white background) the iris closes a bit more, decreasing the effect of the βdeformedβ lens; with a dark display (black background) the iris opens to receive more light and the deformation of the lens creates a much fuzzier focus at the eye."
https://tatham.blog/2008/10/13/why-light-text-on-dark-background-is-a-bad-idea/
Unfortunately images have less vibrancy and pop in light mode unless...
The Nostrmo Android client runs them almost to the edge of the screen by drawing the card edges along the top and bottom sides only.
Nostr designers please do this!

I'm continually amazed at the rate of change on nostr and the awesomeness of its developers
"my peace is there in the receding mist
when I may cease
from treading these long shifting thresholds
and live the space of a door
that opens and shuts
[...]
what would I do without this silence where the murmurs die
the paintings the frenzies toward succour towards love
without this sky that soars
above it's ballast dust"

Good morning π
I like this and not just because I'm a sucker for poignant piano. It kinda shouldn't work but it does. The rough recording. The surprise. The sound of things being moved around in the studio and the sudden percussion level adjustment π It has charm and life.

Thinking about this a bit more deeply nostr:npub1yye4qu6qrgcsejghnl36wl5kvecsel0kxr0ass8ewtqc8gjykxkssdhmd0
The ppl I follow on nostr I follow because I like them as ppl
I don't care if they're right or wrong
On X everyone delivers their cold hard dead sermons from the mount
And they're mostly wrong
You're a nice, kind person
You care about the effects of your words
I'm not so kind so I don't care so much
My fight or flight response is easily triggered and I can be very cruel
I *need* to care more about the effects of my words
I learnt to care more, from you
We can handle your wrong thoughts and your right thoughts
We're all muddling through this together
We all need feedback
That's my entirely selfish way of saying please don't stress too much about posting
The good things about X/Twitter:
It sharpened my logical reasoning and ability to handle propaganda in public debate
It helped me to express myself clearly and concisely
These are tools
We do not need to forever communicate in 130 characters
Nor do we need to live in a forever propaganda war
The world needs longer and more circumspect thoughts
And the world needs love and understanding
