Australia-first cannabis club opens in Goodna with aim of helping medicinal users
Tucked away at the back of an office building in Brisbaneโs southwest, Australiaโs first legal cannabis club now has 400 members.

Australiaโs first legal cannabis club, a safe space for medicinal users to seek quality advice and friendship, already has 400 members after officially opening in Goodna on the weekend.
The club, open only to people registered to use therapeutic cannabis for health reasons, was founded by student social worker Aaron Spencer after he watched his father Peterโs struggles.
Peter Spencer said he turned to cannabis to ease the physical and mental pain of cancer, injuries from a car crash and a traumatic marriage breakdown.
At the time medicinal cannabis was not well established and so he had to battle the stigma of using the drug.
Aaron Spencer, 21, who said he did not drink or smoke, let alone take drugs, began trials of a club where medicinal cannabis users could get together.

โWeโve been running for almost two years and already have more than 400 members,โ he said.
โWe ran a pilot for two years, identifying the medical cannabis communityโs needs.
โWe had dozens of people attend Saturdayโs official opening.
โWe see this as the next step in bringing together people to discuss cannabis in a calm and safe environment, engage with medical professionals and gain insights into the community they now belong to.
โWhile this is only a start, we believe it will be a game-changer.
โItโs already generating plenty of interest with about 9000 inquiries from across Australia.โ
