This is from 2018, but it does address a number of issues that are usually ignored or obfuscated but pro ag articles/organizations.
The comment about the Reagan admin rolling back subsidies and the response rang home because I remember angry farmers in the town I lived in at the time.
Who seed can be purchased from in most cases.
Agenda 2030 and the crusade to reduce "reactive" nitrogen pollution.
There is no clear path to reduce wasted reactive nitrogen making it's way into water systems.
No viable alternative to the Haber-Bosch Process. (Which is itself under fire for energy consumption)
So policy makers are threatening massive taxes and regulations on primary supplies for agriculture production.
Which is a middle finger to the farmers themselves and the populations they feed.
Modern Lysenkoism in practice.
Major crops and products are highly subsidized in the US (corn, soybean, wheat, cotton, and rice)
Only major producers are generally receiving subsidies at all.
You are referring to Rothbard's colonial history series?
Not what I'm getting at.
I'm also not saying your incorrect.
I'm saying the calculation is different because of perspective.
He's the richest man on the planet and has a lot of his own designs in play.
He's successfully pissed off and then glad-handed every side.
What is really going on is not likely to be easily discerned.
Or it's calculated very differently.
The sugar maple trees are tapped and sap is flowing!
https://v.nostr.build/6yVO.mp4
Sugar from trees, the maple syrup is one of the first yields of the year from the natural capital at the homestead.

Ended up with a total of 116 taps this year, close to double the taps from last season. Last year I started tapping all the trees a week later (and I still missed a week of flow this year), not to mention it took me a couple weeks to get all the taps in. This year I managed get all the taps in over just a few days.

While it's hard work to prepare the equipment, tap the trees, and process the sap into syrup. It's the first opportunity to spend a lot of time outside in the woods getting exercise. We get all our sugar for the year from the trees growing on our land. I'm grateful we have the opportunity to glean all the benefits and yeilds the process of maple sugaring offers and to have such wonderful trees in our own backyard.

I do miss being in an area that had sugar maple.
Very true.
You do know what Lamborghini's primary and original business is right?
"Lamborghini Trattori"
They'll have appropriate vehicles for your land.
Basically community building and alternative network growth.
Can't argue with that.
What do you think will happen as they finally die off?
Higher.
Most people don't want to think and seek the least resistance in their secure utopia.
Anyone want to try explaining why the people that ruined the 60's are still hanging on to power?
I know the story is referring to.
Toothbrush botnet that brought down a Swiss site.
But yes. It's a good one.
I was just being cheeky.
The good part is that all of the needed components are factory VW. Saves a lot of headaches.
It's definitely a project with the time.
It would take a fair amount of time, but with a well laid out parts list, it would be quite possible to build one just starting with a base golf.
(Engine/drivetrain/suspension swaps are one of the things I do)
Starting with an r32 would make us significantly simpler, however.
