There are two Orwellianisms that can justify virtually anything in our society: National Security and Public Health.

maybe someone made this analogy already but BTC network = gold, lightning = silver.

It’s even worse than that. The attempt to persuade the audience rather than discover what’s true leads people to minimize the weak points in their own arguments and attack tangential weak points in their opponents’ ones even if it’s not really relevant to the overall thesis.

But that’s only if you’re lucky. Sometimes you get someone so craven and so set out for the W, they straw man, goal-post move, try to latch on to anything they can associate with something you said no matter how much of a non-sequitur it is, knowing zombies will hammer the likes and chime in with their own associations unitl the initlal post is no longer even being addressed at all.

I wish people were just using rhetoric to persuade an audience. That you can at least counter.

Can’t wait for the euro to go to zero here, so everything’s free.

Exactly — they’re escaping the consequences of their own idiotic preferences, scapegoating whoever the TV tells them to for it and then reprising the same pattern elsewhere. They’re like young children making one mess after another without even knowing other people are left to clean it up.

If it’s easy, it’s not worth it. And if it’s worth it, it’s not easy. Can’t it just be easy and worth it? Apparently not. nostr:note13w5s3fwg66q0w8pktn4y5r3xuwl6g0qr56ssha9x3v9hvp0uv0qqamxpt4

For those interested in sports content on #nostr, sports-only account.

NFL-heavy for now, but will have NBA too when the season starts.

Most of the people I follow on nostr are posting under pseudonyms. I respect wanting to be anonymous online (especially when posting regime-antagonistic content), and maybe I’m a fool to post under my real identity, but I think if you really want to grow the platform, we need more people IDing themselves.

Again, I don’t expect the most controversial posters to martyr themselves (I am conscious that nostr posts are forever, and don’t necessarily say things as harshly as I might be inclined), but voting mask-off for freedom is more powerful than doing it in the shadows.

Just a thought — I’d rather people be anonymous than silent, but we shouldn’t be afraid to stand up for (as of now) legally protected speech. In some ways, all this free-speech hall-monitoring is a trial balloon, to see if it gets everyone to scurry away and hide. But imagine if everyone spoke out 10x more forcefully than they expected. It would be they scurrying away, not us.

Good luck cracking down on speech in the Information Age, you midwit apparatchik. Not only will you lose, you will be sued and quite possibly imprisoned when this all plays out.

If you’re on death’s door like Joe Biden or Mitch McConnell, you might as well go all-in on the agenda. You have nothing to lose, but this younger cohort that (assuming they got the placebo jab) has decades ahead of them are making a really stupid bet.

These people are already terrified they’ll be held to account for what they’ve done, so they’re going after speech, but I think they are genuinely unaware of how widely they are despised by many capable and intelligent people.

She has no idea what she’s up against, and she thinks she’ll be protected from the fallout. She will not.

Nuremberg 2.0 is coming. Too many people know. And those who know are waking others up as I type this. It’s a one-way ratchet: sleepers will awaken, but the awake can never go back to sleep. nostr:note1d5kr58q77skdd39yhxgpnyq73nns4kvv9z8puqgr0d9rz8vpla4szeeech

I’m mostly off Twitter these days, but when I need to search for an article on covid malfeasance, it’s the only place to do it. DuckDuckGo only returns propaganda, and I wouldn’t type that shit into Google (and wouldn’t expect any different from them.)

Twitter is now the only search engine, flawed as it is, where you can find anything remotely approaching the truth.

DuckDuckGo is really a disappointing fraud at this point.

If it weren’t true, it wouldn’t need to be labeled “misinformation” because no one would care.

I just can’t fathom the mindset of people still injecting this poison. nostr:note1yrjvy6gafngjwn362y98dcnaxdq39tttkvr6qcnvnyyxdphrqxtq3rhqmq
