Just installed a new relay for the Hungarian Nostr community. It has the most boring name I could come up with: "relay.nostr.hu"

Erfahrungsbericht Alby Hub (self hosted/Umbrel)

Ich möchte euch in einigen Posts mitnehmen auf meine Reise mit Alby Hub. Dabei soll meine Motivation klar werden und (bisherige) Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der "App" erläutert werden.

Motivation:

Für nicht technikaffine Nutzer des Lightningnetzwerkes stand jetzt schon seit geraumer Zeit Umbrel mit einer netten Benutzeroberfläche zur Verfügung. Raspiblitz und Start9 sind nachgezogen.

Es bestand trotzdem noch die Notwendigkeit, für ein Ausgleichen der Lightninkanäle Ride the Lightning oder andere Software zu nutzen. Es war auch nicht möglich sich über die App inbound-Liquidität zu beschaffen. Zudem musste man sich über andere Wege gute Channelpartner suchen.

Dies führte u.a. dazu, dass viele sich Alternativen wie Phoenix oder Zeus zuwandten, die zudem keine besondere Hardware benötigten und mobil funktionierten.

Wirkliche Innovationen in der nativen Lightning-App von Umbrel blieben in letzter Zeit aus.

Im Gegenzug zeigte Alby vor allem mit der Browser-Extension und ihrem Engagement im Nostr-Bereich, dass man bei ihnen mit Innovationen rechnen konnte. Also gab ich der App nach ersten Eindrücken eine Chance.
