one of the reasons this is hard to replicate in the US is the unique combination of urban density, historical tradition, walkable urban centers, and (relative) high trust that facilitates all this. Not praising one system over another, just pointing out differences.

NOSTR is going to be interesting since we've never had something decentralized get mainstream. Right now it seems like the cute innocent days of facebook or twitter; largely polite, pleasant banter, no big arguments or feuds...
But what does it look like when the masses come on over? Can they ever adapt to platform not oriented towards outrage porn? To many, the drama has become central to their online identity.
