Or they criticize bitcoin for that reason on the internet...um, hello?!?! haha
For sure. Definitely highlights how two-way trust is inherent is such a set up.
Well, the obvious one is that it allows you to secure your cold-stored funds securely offline with a metal seed backup and have a separate hot-wallet for spending funds that is also secured by that same metal seed backup without having to compromise the security of your cold-storage.
Another benefit is that I can store some funds for a relative using the security of my cold-storage. You can teach them all about how to manage their own [derivative] seed and how to properly secure and store their seed online or offline, without compromising your own security or setup. That way if they ever screw up, you still can regenerate a copy of their seed and help them recover. It is a great way to gently onboard relatives or people that you have two-way trust with.
Nice! Looking forward to it.
The Coldcard is my fav hardware option by far. This unassuming little calculator has so many features that most people never even realize are there. If you haven't dove into yours yet, here's an in depth walkthrough starting with the basics, then moving into the more advanced features.
After my original tutorial, Nunchuk added support for Coldcard NFC, so I made this follow up video as well.
Of course I've got a ton of free videos on all this stuff, but if you're in Miami for the conference in May, I'm holding a 4 hour workshop and there are a few tickets left. Anyone who needs more hand holding and wants to attend will come out of this thing super proficient with their calculator skills.

Feel free to share this around. #CalculatorGang ftw
BIP-85 is one of my favorite features that ColdCard supports.
One seed to rule them all!
I was in Texas once when it was 50F there and I was walking around in short sleeves and everyone immediately knew I was from up north. 😆
Ya, seems like MPPs are becoming much more widely supported which is pretty cool.
For sure. I believe alternative path finding algorithms are being worked on. I think Rene Pinkhardt is doing some work there. Not just from a privacy perspective, but also scalability since as the network grows, path finding can become much more difficult.
Too many nodes take the easy route (no pun intended) and build channels to the biggest and most connected nodes.
I guess that's also good reasoning for why when constructing lightning channels on your LN node, you should avoid centrality to a degree. That might mean it is more costly for you when path finding payments, but it also ensures a much more diverse path across the network which would make deduction of this type much more difficult.
Standing on the shoulders of giants is what building is all about.
Good morning Nostr! My goal today is to convince some friends to try out Nostr.
Yup, Valve's Steam Deck is pretty awesome too.
I don't even need Windows for gaming any more. Gaming on Linux has come a long way over the last couple years. It's great. Valve has put a lot of work into Proto .
Strange. I just switched clients from Snort to Iris and was able to Zap you from Iris. 👍
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I worked on getting that set up and I think I got it up and running now. I'd tip you for your help, but your LN address isn't loading invoices at the moment. Thanks again!
Thank you. Yes, that looks like something that could work. I'll check it out. Cheers!
Thanks, but this is for sending the corresponding zap note when receiving a zap to my lightning address so that Nostr sees that a zap was paid.
What are people using to send zap notes with LND back end? Looks like there is Zapper for CLN, but not seeing something for LND.
