#Bitcoin is the alternative financial system for local communities at a time of inflation and spiraling national debt. #Mendocino California.

If you still conflate #bitcoin with ‘crypto’ you don’t understand bitcoin. Bitcoin is the antithesis of crypto.

I’m talking to a good friend who’s ’come for the greed’ and is waiting for the ETF. I’m slowly persuading him to ‘stay for the revolution.’ The revolution part is hard for people to grasp.

I think that as self-custody becomes much easier (for example Bitkey from Block) and education continues, Bitcoin will slowly…one block at a time…fulfill its mission.

Wait a second…you mean there’s less than 2 days to go in 2023!?

What might happen if #Mendocino residents and business owners use #bitcoin  (that gains value over time) as a local currency?

What will happen if #Mendocino residents and business owners continue to use dollars (that lose value at the rate of inflation) as a currency?

“Did you hear what I said young lady? Senator Warren banned self-hosted wallets. Now you Forget those 12 words right this minute.”

HOW #BITCOIN WORKS (in 20 seconds or less.)

A transaction (TX) from A to B is broadcast over the internet where nodes distributed around the globe receive it and it’s placed in the ‘mempool.’ Miners add it to a block of TXs and use computing power to ‘validate’ that block. Then the TX is added to the ‘blockchain’ and PRESTO! B has received bitcoin from A.

(I’d recommend spending an additional 10,000 hours to search this more deeply.)

“Do you remember the days when you could save money and get ahead in life?”

“No I don’t.”

People’s first perception of #bitcoin is often that it’s some sort of digital token. But if you are feeling the effects of inflation enough to want to get past this and take a closer look at bitcoin you first need to understand what money is. This leads to discovering that the dollar is not money, it’s currency. With this realization the door to understanding bitcoin begins to open.

#Bitcoin’s value measured in dollars (but not adjusted for inflation) has increased 160% since last Christmas Eve🎄

“I’ve read that there are thousands of communications satellites in low earth orbit that cover every square inch of the planet and can be used to track any of us so that we’ll soon be living in a digital panopticon.”

“I’ll put another log on the fire.”

If a business accepts bitcoin, exchange your dollars for bitcoin and make the purchase. If we all do this we drive adoption. And converting dollars to bitcoin at the time of the purchase prevents dipping into your cold storage bitcoin stack.
