Today, I had to dig a hole for a bury hydrant, but it was at a Kennel so I was never alone. 🐶

Thank you! I would love to see that, too!
Treating this nPub like a journal while I learn the trade of #Plumbing!
He's already got that planned! 😉👍
The first time I ever soldered anything together was a few months ago when I started working with the Master.
He recently had me do some homework over a couple of weekends so that I could get some solid practice in.
Definitely have a lot of room to improve, but all this work is exactly how to do it.

Yesterday we had a job to install a shower unit. This was a first for me. We've installed plenty of plumbing for showers and tubs, but this was the first time I got to experience the process of installing the actual shower unit like the floor piece and walls.
The Master caught out the floor and began the plumbing for the unit. Then a piece of plywood was cut to size and placed in.
Once this was installed and level the Master began to mix mortar. After properly mixing the mortar and laying it out we placed the floor piece on top. It was impressive seeing how much work the Master put in to making sure the floor piece would be level.

Once this was done we moved on to installing the wall pieces. This was more complicated than I expected given the walls of the bathroom. I tried to make sure to observe and pay attention to the creative steps the Master was taking to insure it was done properly all while not stepping on the floor piece because the mortar needs at least a day to set.

All in all it was one of the most interesting jobs I have got to assist with so far.

Yesterday the Master removed a foreign object from inside of a toilet. He was stuck near the bend of the inner trap.
He removed the toilet then attempted to grab it with a small snake-like tool. Unable to grab the object with this tool as well as push far enough out one way he then flipped the toilet while inside a showertub. The object mades way out during the flip.
It was a vaping device. It was large for one of these devices. A rectangular prism about 3.5in x 2.5in x .75in.

I definitely think it's making me a better man!
It's without a doubt some of the toughest work I've ever done, but it is also some of the most fulfilling work I've ever gotten to do.
My goal is to make it to a year. I'll reaccess where I'm at when I get there, but I think that I'm learning a lot and going many practical skills that can provide me and others value.
I am slowly accumulating tools to my plumbing arsenal.

The Master and I worked on an extension of a house the past two days.
He was able to tell me what to do or what to get, and I was able to do most of it. Made some mistakes, but the Master pointed them out and told me what they were so I won't ever do them again.
We ran water lines, a drain, and he vented the drain to the roof of the new extension.

Underneath the Bathroom in the Crawl Space

It was a fulfilling day of work. As instructed by my Master I installed this new p-trap for a new sink that did not yet have one. I need to cut away at the black pipe seen in the photo. I added a 90° fitting and needed a trap extension. I was able to do this while the Master was upstairs working on another sink.
We had other jobs today, but this was what I most wanted to share. Personally, it was great start to the work week for me.
