Surprise appearance by Stephen Mulhern at Inside No. 9 Stage/Fright this afternoon. He said Catchphrase was 30 years old. More like 40. If only someone had uploaded them all to YouTube. #CatchphraseAnniversaryYearProbably
I asked Copilot to prepare me a list of all BBC cassette releases with ZBBC catalogue numbers (I’m a collector). I pointed it towards discogs. After much prevarication and giving only very incomplete lists, it gave me a Python script and told me to login to run it. Baffled.
A great afternoon on TV for fans of 70mm films. https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/6d2b81fda164da125cebc69dd963de03b1a4c059d93914e5c32ac1554e66e113/f6d4dece73254d84ca1d92266cfad6b72d7319317a5fb2f77347379391a25218.webp
Having been recommended York, Buxton, Matlock, and Edinburgh, I decided to compromise and avoid closed/busier main lines, so I went to Exeter. Mainly the ugly bits with the chazzers.
Free trip, but point taken!
Thanks. But I, I mean they, have already been to York and Edinburgh this year.
If you could go anywhere in Great Britain by train, where would you go? Asking for a friend.
Moving away from turkey and gammon based meals, so I’ve a bag full of fish* from M&S.
* And prawns.
First go on the SWR Class 701s today. Initial thoughts are that they should have set the seats slightly further away from the walls. Everything else seemed fine. https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/6d2b81fda164da125cebc69dd963de03b1a4c059d93914e5c32ac1554e66e113/21793feff99a905d3c9b3e5ff3aaf92cac3bbb17317ffa7cbb58106e73bf0a39.webp
Last Christmas shopping done. Somehow £16 at Waitrose has given me more than I can reasonably carry.
I suppose the guy could have been vision-impaired, in fairness, although he gave no impression of being so.
All the money spent on on-train displays and platform displays over the last century, and a guy still tries to jump the queue at the ticket office to check the calling points of the train.
Item in The Guardian’s newsletter about missing programmes today. Nothing new to most of my followers. And while it’s good someone is looking out for film, videotape is also an issue.
Now there are 2 FaceTime loudspeaker calls on this bus. They’re starting to compete. If this trend continues, by 2030, these calls will become impossible because everyone will be having them all the time.
My headphones are out of juice due to bad planning on my part. Fortunately, I’m travelling First Class so nobody’s playing shitty music through their crap loudspeakers.
I’d like to go down in history as the man who introduced headphones to the Stratford to Bishop’s Stortford service.
I remember commenters on Ollie’s videos would often be rude and then claim autism as a defence. Many others were keen to tell them in the comments that it was no excuse.
I’ve had to trip a bit of Crown Court to keep a clip from 1978 available. Normal service should be resumed shortly. https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/6d2b81fda164da125cebc69dd963de03b1a4c059d93914e5c32ac1554e66e113/b807b21f00797201bcc8c2eafbb068fe04253e1960b516fba72c87d98693a4ab.webp
Intriguing still from a 1924 short film “Barging Through London” showing Stepney Green station with LMS and Underground on the sign. I wonder what the services would have been then. An extra feature on BFI’s Hidden City Blu-ray, a silly film by Stephen Poliakov about state secrets. https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/6d2b81fda164da125cebc69dd963de03b1a4c059d93914e5c32ac1554e66e113/5279cf62a73f4a970de81aa3d0020285e4cb737e7f4cf32c874f7477d91bb701.webp https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/6d2b81fda164da125cebc69dd963de03b1a4c059d93914e5c32ac1554e66e113/7d914f8913305ea970257a159bec2e55ca102b026928c485ab23f0204b585d85.webp
