Censorship-resistance is the ability to say what you want to say or transact with whomever you want to transact with and not have anyone able to prevent you from doing so.
With #Bitcoin, censorship-resistance is accomplished with an alignment of incentives: miners are rewarded for allowing transaction freedom; proof of work makes it incredibly difficult to be exclusive of anyone using the protocol.
With #Nostr, a relay operator can decide not to store or transmit your messages; there's no mechanism to prevent that from happening but you don't care because another relay will probably store and transmit your messages for you and nothing stops you from hosting your own relay as well.
Naturally. The issue with Bittorrent (and why I didn’t suggest using it) is that it requires more tooling for it to work. Although both (Bittorrent and IPFS) use DHTs for locating content, IPFS (in my experience) is faster in locating content. You would need a tracker to be able to do so with Bittorrent. There’s also the need to have a HTTP interface for accessing media files. This comes bundled with the IPFS daemon. In general, IPFS is probably better for storing and serving many small files and Bittorrent for larger files.
I’ve been musing over the best strategy for uploading media to #nostr. Most people can already host a relay but I doubt they’ll want to host their own media, not to mention doing it for others.
Services like nostr.build allow you to upload and will serve your media but I get nervous about it going away one day and losing access to all my uploaded media.
This is where a protocol like #ipfs might be useful. Without doing much in the sense of a media server, you can run the ipfs daemon and pin files you intend to share and use the url of a public ipfs gateway to serve your files.
I’m going to experiment with hosting future media content on ipfs and see how it goes.
BlueWallet is sunsetting their custodial Lightning service: remove funds ASAP
This would always be the end result of every custodial-lightning service.
This sinister experiment that the Central Bank of Nigeria is conducting with Nigerians proves one thing: Nigeria will never be cashless.
#nostr may not be censorship-resistant but it is censorship-agnostic.

Did #[0] silently deploy NIP-57 support or do I have to sacrifice my firstborn in order to join the whitelist?
Do you recognize that orange glow you feel inside of you when you zap a post? 🧡💜
Is there a standard (or NIP) for media hosting services? I imagine that in the not so distant future, you can upload media directly from a Nostr client to your preferred media hosting service.
Agreed. There are so many people whose access to the Internet involves the use of NAT and shared IPs. It would be a shame for them to be blocked from using certain relays because someone else abused it.
I’ve got nostore testflight setup and configured on safari … what are people using it for on iphone?
I used it once with nostr.directory
WTF is this? And it’s enabled by default?

Strange but not surprising. Probably coming from someone who’s in the blockchain, not #Bitcoin camp.
It’s mind-boggling to see some Bitcoiners calling for censorship of #Bitcoin transactions just because they contain #inscriptions. Inscriptions are not the attack on Bitcoin; you are!

Zapping could become so ubiquitous that some might even earn a decent living with it! ⚡️
It would be nice to have some kind of indicator to let you know when you’ve already zapped a note. It certainly shouldn’t prevent additional zapping of the same note.

The fact that I can operate this, is me telling my age. These phones will sometimes come with a padlock so you couldn’t use the dial without the key but you could still dial phone numbers using the hook. IYKYK.
