💔💔I had to say goodbye today to my partner, my heart horse...my Showdown. What we thought was just a lingering case of pigeon fever actually masked something far worse. These last 72 hours his condition deteriorated to the point this morning my vet said, "get him to the hospital." Two hours later, after tests, I was told he was riddled with cancer and the kindest thing I could do was let him go. I'm crying as I write this and I cried as I held him, whispering in his ear "you're the best boy ever" as he slipped away and crossed the rainbow bridge. I am so grateful for the years I had with him, achieving personal bests in barrel racing, riding him in the mountains, winning our first and only endurance ride but mostly the fact that he got to be a horse who knew he was loved, all the way to the end. RIP Savannah's Showdown 💔💔
