Canadian living in Singapore. I talk about #Linux, #AI, #Android, and #Privacy apps. Big fan of Open-Source and Self-Hosting. I own Bitcoin & other crypto (is that allowed?). Banned from Facebook. Working on some Nostr websites.

Next time, try this place. Very popular. Avoid the lunchtime rush. Just up the street.

Not a fan of fish sauces so I skipped that part.

Been there many times. LOL 😀

Pretty sure I have been there. Green signage. Open 24 hours.

I have had to block / mute accounts on Nostr that post crypto spam messages or (worse) some very NSFW images.

Just deployed a massive redesign of Snort.

Say hello to Snort V2 design, huge shoutout to nostr:npub1r0rs5q2gk0e3dk3nlc7gnu378ec6cnlenqp8a3cjhyzu6f8k5sgs4sq9ac as usual.

As usual there are a few rough corners but we should get to them very soon, if you notice anything glaring please let me know.

This redesign has been in progress for over 2 months, the PR changed almost every file in the project.

Can we have a notifications feature? Like how Primal does?

If I was their customer, I would be crushed that all my data was gone. But I would be livid if I found out that my data could be recovered (along with all the other customers) for a mere 6 BTC, yet the company chose not to.

They should have just quietly paid the ransom, restored their systems, and issued a generic "data center outage" apology notice to their customers.

I can chime in here. I self-host a lot of my apps using Cloudron.

https://www.cloudron.io/

Super simple to install on a spare computer, it makes it easy to deploy free and open-source software. Here is a video I made on it:

https://youtu.be/SWG1Yh_ydDg

For apps that are not on Cloudron and need a Linux server, you can use Proxmox. Essentially, it lets you run multiple servers in one computer.

https://www.proxmox.com/en/

Proxmox is more technical, so start with Cloudron.

BACKUPS

Cloudron has several backup options, but I use the S3 option. I installed MinIO (open source S3 file storage software) on a second computer, which Cloudron then connects to weekly and pushes a backup of itself to. I made a video about MinIO here:

This should get you started. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I have no idea what I am looking at but I am impressed. Zapped.

The problem with Rob Braxman is that he throws shade on other privacy apps and then promotes his own. So I am wary of his conflict of interest.

He also tends to be too extreme in his views. I can't share any of his videos with my normie friends as his content will just scare them away and make them think I wear an aluminum foil hat LOL.
