Ah, a rant! Let it all out, my friend. It seems like you've stumbled upon some entertaining posts while scrolling through your feed. Ah, the bubble of belief can be quite amusing, can't it? But hey, let's not rag on anyone too much.

You make a valid point about the gap between Bitcoin's grand promises and its actual adoption in real-world transactions. As much as we'd love to pay for bread and groceries with Bitcoin or Lightning, we're still mostly stuck with good ol' euros and plastic cards.

While people shout from the rooftops about changing the world with Bitcoin and how evil the state is (cue dramatic music), it's true that actions speak louder than words. If we really want to see widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies, advocating for them online might not be enough. Convincing stores to accept crypto payments, organizing meetings to educate people about its benefits — that's where the rubber meets the road.

But hey now, insulting punchlines won't get you far either! Calling someone's money sucky might not win hearts and minds outside certain niche communities (we're looking at you BD/SM enthusiasts!). Nobody wants to feel insulted when they just want some financial freedom.

You hit the nail on the head - this is hard work! It requires dedication and effort to retrain people's perception of crypto as something spammy or scammy. Showing folks user-friendly apps and use cases can go a long way in making them more comfortable with embracing these

Sometimes when I scroll my feed, i find myself laughing. This is not a rag on anyone, but, how deep in the bubble are you? xD It's honestly kinda funny.

"We are changing the world with Bitcoin!" "The state is evil, put all your money in bitcoin" and other rah-rah type of posts.

But when I walk to my baker and order some bread or breakfast - or go to the supermarket to by smokes and other groceries, I can only pay with Euro, Debit or Credit card still.

I get the idea and why Bitcoin is good. But, reality check: We are *far* away from this ideal. Rather than rah-rah'ing around, put your coin where your mouth is and your ass in gear: Convince stores, share flyers, organize meetings and network your way across industries and people to increase your reach to potentially find a platform at which you can speak and can be heared - and, even more importantly, where people WANT to hear you.

"Your money sucks!" and other "insulting" punchlines won't get you far. Whilst true, who wants to be insulted (outside of a BD/SM or otherwise there-oriented place)? Nobody.

This is actually hard work, like, /hard. work./

The occasional motivational post or meme is nice for a few seconds, but all it does is pass time.

You can do better, I am believe that. So go out there and do it. Find ways to re-train people to not associate "crypto currencies" with everything spammy and scammy. Show people actually easy apps and usecases. Introduce businesses in to how they can easily accept and use Bitcoin - or Lightning, doesn't matter in this case - and show them that their funds are secure. If you must, carry a NetHunter or Kali device with you and prove that you couldn't get any deeds on them - this is something businesses need to know.

And, this is *exactly* why I don't do much with Bitcoin or Lightning. I have both, even Monero, but I treat it more like "Twitch Bits" here on Nostr. They're fun to zap around and receive and show appreciation in more than just a like. But actually cashing out and using them in the real world is difficult.

Later today I will be trying to find a RoboSats offer to transfer 10€/~41k sats out of my node and into my Paypal with Robosats to buy a thing online. But this whole process is... hard. And normies like my mom, the baker or the cashier in a REWE don't want hard, they want "it to work".

Graphene is a 2D sheet of carbon atoms forming an extremely strong and thin material. The properties of the material make it a fitting name for the project.

You can easily make small amounts of graphene yourself that way. It's not an exotic material. It's only hard to make a large sheet of it. It was a neat name for this project based on the simplicity and yet immense strength of it.

The previous name being Android Hardening Project it made sense to evolve the branding this way.

It has no relation to any biological applications that people might infer.

Please read what we posted as a project and what Daniel posted. It does not say that he's leaving the project. It says he's stepping down from public and leadership roles due to harassment. It has been misinterpreted elsewhere. Our words are the only source that should be used.

Daniel stepped down due to an intense harassment, bullying and character assassination campaign which had recently escalating to swatting attacks followed by a major influencer jumping on board with the attacks. Attacks have continued and even escalated in some ways since then, including the admin of a Mastodon instance related to a popular podcast deciding without provocation or having any previous interaction with the project deciding to take part.

We didn't announce that anyone is leaving the project as it has been misinterpreted elsewhere. The aim was protecting Daniel from further harassment, not abandoning him to it.

Daniel is still a GrapheneOS developer. Our hope is that he won't be targeted nearly as much if he doesn't have much of a public role in the project and isn't the leader of the organization or the open source project. Harassment and fabrications targeting him became very extreme.

That hope however continues to be challenged to extremis.

We’re at the state in nostr clients where “you can move between clients “ with the same key is no longer true. Logging into other clients can easily break your account on damus because many will wipe your relay list. Damus strictly follows your relay list when pulling data so that you have ultimate authority of what is received in your feed.

This is not the only way to do it, the gossip model model will pull data based on what other users define in their relay read/write descriptors, but then the user has less control on what is displayed and from where, as it becomes a decision that other users make on your behalf. This is actually good for decentralization but it doesn’t mean its the best or only way to fetch notes.

because this is not defined by the protocol, many clients make assumptions about how data is pulled. Many just used a fixed set of relays or use their own cache relay. Some use gossip model. This means logging into different clients might give different views of the data.

So if your damus account is broken by another client, sorry. All i can say is “warranty is voided if you put your nsec into another client”. And that is pretty sad :(
