For my nas I just have a 4 bay USB attachment for a raspberry 4. Has a 8 terribyte drive I backup occasionally . Shared over nfs. A few other throw away drives for random things that aren't important. It's attached to the router via Ethernet so I don't need to worry about wifi. Its also where I keep my printer.

It allows me to stream two 4k videos at once to two TVs so that's fast enough for me.

And I can use srcripts to auto backup stuff. It's also running a invidious instance so I can watch YouTube ad free. I backup it's postgress database occasionally.

Raspberry PI 5 has a lot of improvements that would make it a better nas but I'm using it for random fun stuff
