I think it's great that they're offering that service at no cost!

Services need money to run, of course, but child pornography is one of those things that we all should be able to set aside differences for in terms of eliminating it, and barring people from accessing such a filtering mechanism without paying is dubious at best. I don't think that forcing people to pay to use a service that keeps their platform free of CSAM indicates one is providing the service in good faith.

Yeah, a hash-checking service that any website operator could freely utilize at no cost should be done under something like the United Nations, but that would come dangerously close to helping make the world a better place which I think is against their charter.

I am not a lawyer, but it seems all you can legally do when someone uploads CP to your server is delete it (fast). Hashing it (feds might consider that archival) or passing it around for purposes of a voting system(!) appears to be illegal.

It also seems to me that these organizations selling CP-detecting services to social media companies are profiting indirectly from CP in precisely the manner that this law sought to prevent.

It was written vaguely on purpose, I think.

The way the law is written I don't know if it's even legal to transmit HASHES of CP without government permission, since material "that was produced using" CSAM can't be legally transmitted in any way.

nostr:npub108pv4cg5ag52nq082kd5leu9ffrn2gdg6g4xdwatn73y36uzplmq9uyev6 Luke "Vim Diesel" Smith has started a CSAM-Buster project that's supposed to do what it says on the title, and it's using Nostr for has distribution. Were you involved by any chance?

Congrats. You just did a felony.

I'll show that to the next person I run into still spouting the "Just because SJWs like this game doesn't mean the devs are also SJWs!" talking point.

Bringing the social media tracking experience to video games! So innovative! 🙄

Yeah, Charters are big business on the Gulf Coast. After Katrina, they basically replaced the entire public school system with Charters in Louisiana. It's corrupt as hell.

Charter Schools like making wild claims because they're exempt from testing and everyone assumes they must be way better than public schools because they're owned by corporations. 🙄

I'm sure these guys have been handing out bribes like candy in Austin.

Probably because their flag will be flying over Austin 20 years from now.

Joking aside, I linked the sketchy Charter School corporation that's doing this in another part of the thread and it's apparently part of their schtick. I looked over their website for any mention of CCP or Confucius Institute involvement and didn't find anything. You may have better luck so here's the link again:

More like DAVID (SPIRITUALLY) FRENCH, amirite?

The only amine worth watching is haruhi

I do wonder what could he possibly have observed in a school that isn't even fully constructed that proves "connections with the CCP and Confucius Institutes?" You'd think he'd have posted some pics of the interior if he had found something incriminating. After all, he went so far as criminal trespassing to carry out this important investigation.
