Nostr makes so much sense as a fun use case for a personal lightning node.

I know there are those that want Nostr to succeed with less friction for the lamen user, but at least for me? It wasn't until I was very, very deep into the rabbit hole that I began to care.

When humans lived in small groups or villages, (which is for most of our history), it was very difficult to benefit from being dishonest.

Everyone knew everyone else and it was very hard to keep secrets.

Alpha male leaders who were fair and cooperative had an advantage over those who ruled by aggression and bullying. Cooperation was extremely important.

If someone was caught cheating they risked being expelled from the group. Reputation was everything. Good luck trying to find a new group to join as a stranger !

With the development of larger towns and then cities, and ease of travel, it has become much easier to benefit from cheating until we have the sorry situation today.

Free speech is very important because it lets us know who has been cheating. There are countless ways we can be cheated today ; not just through money creation but also through marketing, advertising, propaganda, obfuscation of “inconvenient” science, the inversion of incentives in medicine and law, growth of governmental bureaucracy and on and on.

Start9 is lit, you can always ssh and do whatever you want.

I run it inside proxmox. But you can run whatever you want, but lxcs have been better than docker lately.

Running a node is not that complicated. It’s like running a web server. If a company can setup a webserver they can setup a node. Just hire a few IT people. Nice thing is that you can do accounting directly out of your node.

Occasionally consolidate to cold store if you’re worried about the node going down or something if thats the risk.

Have you been introduced to #wavlake yet? I am finding quite a few good artist there and they just released a new version the other day(gotta install through zapstore) that ties in with amber(a key signing app) so it is all integrated with your nostr profile. Tight SHIT! Pretty sure this is all android only since it is outside the walled garden that apple provides, unless jailbreaking is still a thing.. i gave up on using anything apple years ago.
