I only use Monero and what I do to avoid the volatility is to calculate my expenses at the lowest possible value so that it's at that value or below. As an example, Monero is currently trading at $123, but I calculate my expenses using $120. Not all of my income goes to it quite yet because I have not figured out how to do things like pay mortgages and things like that that require ACH style bank transfers but anything that is payable by card I can do. If I were doing this with Bitcoin, I think I'd calculate my expenses at about $50,000. That's overestimating your expenses by about 25%. Which means that it would have to fall 25% to even hit the level.

This is very interesting, I'll come back at you with my own experiences in the future.

I've already came to the conclusion that keeping FIAT around without any purpose just makes me poorer in the long run. I don't transact with it yet though, gotta do the math first.

I don't have any specific reading recommendations, no. Back during the block wars, I was a supporter of Bitcoin Cash because I saw the fees increasing and wanted Bitcoin to remain digital cash. With how complicated lightning is to get off and on, I just don't believe that's the way forward. I ended up abandoning cryptocurrency entirely for around five years before discovering Monero and coming back.

That's kinda haunting.

every sat is perfectly tracked from the moment it is mined. what the government could do is get 51% by force and say "any bitcoin not owned by these addresses cannot be transferred. so you could send a transaction, and it might even get a conf, but then the govt controlled miners would orphan the block with your tx in it. boom, whitelist bitcoin controlled by governments.

I'll have to set asside some time to read more about BTC.

Do you recommend any reading material that explains about the challenges of Bitcoin? I can imagine the whitepaper has something on this.
