I feel as though the whole "peer to peer electronic cash system", while ultimately an end goal is a little misleading at the current state.

There are fees in interacting with the Bitcoin protocol. These fees seem forced and confusing to the user, as they are accustomed to the fees being pushed out of sight to third parties, unknown to them they are in turn paying for the fees anyway on rising costs in a currency they spend and save in that is rapidly being debased and abused by those closest to the spigot.

Bitcoin is not free to use, you must buy it, earn it, meme for it, and pay to transact ona global ledger no one can alter

It's an agreement, a savings vessel outside of centralized control, a censorship resistant tool in the face of debt paying for debt and the most wealthy buying assets and freedoms not given to those without immense wealth. A consensus of the global state of affairs removed from manipulation by any power player.

The value is in they eye of the beholder.

I for one cannot continue supporting endless war, cozy conveniences, and moral decay by entrusting my whole world view on fiat dollars.

Laughing at my own jokes is a character flaw, but I felt like I deserved this one while setting it up.

I know we are pretty anti hard fork but I've heard on TFTC and a few other places that there is some bug that requires a hard fork but that it won't be a problem until... I dunno like 80 years from now or something.

I am not well versed on it, and every time it is brought up everyone kinda just goes "yeah, we've got time." So apologies if this is well known and I'm just dumb.

It does make me curious if we did need to hard fork someday if it could even be successful? Whether or not from this supposed bug, or another vulnerability. And how does ossification of a protocol fit in?

At that point how many unmanned nodes will be spun up just left on running Core in a toaster oven or something, and unable to upgrade if needed?

What happens if the protocol is no longer backwards compatible? We've seen what happens in the past, will we be any more ready in the future? Or potentially more entrenched?

As bullish as I am I still get pestered by these thoughts. So you're line of thinking is refreshing.

I do however have some more technical questions and avenues I'll try and pursue in the future.

I've spent four years taking Bitcoin deadly serious. Trying to learn it's ins and outs and abstractions to the best of my abilities. Now I just hope to make someone laugh.

However now you are making me question if that is the right approach. Because what you say is very sound.

Whoever I click on, at least using WoS defaults to 1000 sats but I'm able to change mine to anything.

Also the zap icon you can change your default zap amounts.

I am running to similar issues though, using Amethyst currently. I'm not sure if it's me, the user client relations or a combination.

I never set an invoice amount as far as I'm aware. Just put my @walletofsatoshi link.

Whatever this protocol becomes or evolves into it's at least proving this stuff can work.

Lightning has been a huge eye opener this year for me.

As someone really unimpressed by what social media in general I may also not be the demographic for this.

Hit send. Wallet of Satoshi notified me instantly. Lightning and its interoperability continues to blow my mind.
