I’ve been there about six times now both alone and with groups, in winter and summer , staying in hotels(look up hotel Budir on Snaefelsness peninsula) , camping (north west fjords) and in huts (landmannalaugar area) Imo you can go anywhere outside Reykjavik and it’s beautiful. Most start with seeing all the hotspots in the Golden Circle but imo you don’t need to, really. There is a ringroad around the whole island that many drive around. The light in iceland combined with the sometimes mordor like landscape is very beautiful. But , the weather can be totally crap as well.
If you have the chance, make sure you go. It’s a different world over there.

The glaciers in iceland are often covered with volcanic ash. The black and deep blue gives it a beautiful contrast.

Although far from perfect technically, this might be my favourite photo because of the humanity in it. And the fact so much seems to happen. I saw this group while in Tibet, resting while on their way up a mountain. They all looked just so beautiful and ofcourse this bloody tourist had to take a picture which esp the younger ladies weren’t keen on. So they got up and tried to get away , despite my strikingly handsome looks 🤷♂️ . The elder lady had more patience and seems to make a gesture of kindness.
Realizing that you are totally irrelevant in the big picture is liberation. That doesn’t mean you and your actions are not relevant to those around you. Be kind.
