Quantumania was ... not to bad actually. I mean, it's nothing great ... parts of it are super dumb ... the guy with the holes and the guy with the gears was cool. The dialogue around them was ... tolerable.

I stopped caring around No Way Home. I don't see how it got such high ratings. It felt so boring and dumb. I had seen all but one of those spidermen actors and I still didn't get tricked by the nostalgia into thinking it was a good movie.

That was the last one I paid for in the theater. I pirated WandaVision. Terrible, but I couldn't stop watching. Watched one of Loki. Bad. Dr. Strange Multiverse was kinda neat, but it would have made zero sense without watching a season long Wanda Vision ... also, it made zero sense even watching Wanda Vision.

I didn't pay for any of it and I still feel ripped off. It's all terrible. I hope the age of super hero movies ends for a good decade.

It's the little touches

huh .. it's written in Rust. I'm guessing it can't scale to multiple instances of the service running (like Mastodon can do with Sidekiq processes)?

From 5m:20s:

“This is a child. If this child is who she says she is. That means that we need to discourage divorce, except in extreme cases. That means we should be against all 3rd party reproductive technologies that separate children from one of these two adults at the moment of conception. That means that we need to reject surrogacy, which always suggests that people lose a bond with the only person they know at the moment that they are born. This is a child. She cannot advocate for herself. She doesn’t blog. She can’t hire lawyers. She can’t submit amicus briefs. It is up to us to represent her rights. This is a child. When we get questions about marriage and family wrong, she is the victim. Not the adults who aren’t getting what they want, or being validated in some way, when we get these questions wrong, her life is genuinely harmed.”

Holy Woke!

Katy Faust talked about a lot of the problems with surrogacy in an interview a few weeks back. This story makes her arguments real.

journa.host is still up and still going

so ... they weren't successful. (I haven't been to Vegas since 2016, but they don't have metal detectors now do they?)

The whole Vegas thing felt like a failed FBI assassination attempt. It got no coverage for years because of how insane it was. There are videos of guards escorting Saudis out of hotels. I had a friend who was a managing editor in Pahrump (1 hour north of Vegas) for a lot of the west coast news papers and he said all their reporters were stonewalled by the local police and the FBI. He personally believes it was some MK Ultra shit, but his staff couldn't ever get any evidence.

Never seen the 4chan post ... might just be spaghetti at the wall that got lucky ... but the whole thing was totally some failed three-letter-agency psyop.

There were some very early posts that seemed like they had knowledge of stuff before it became public in the early days of Orange Man's administration, but it could have just been good guesses.

It was probably taken over, either by the 8ch admins or state actors. I think it might have started off as a troll, but was later adopted by three letter agencies to fuck with everyone ... basically agree with Meows

Do you have a video of someone who got killed for a traffic violation and they weren't doing something absolutely retarded?

What is this from?

Ep 2008 – Stephen C. Meyer – The Joe Rogan Experience

July 14, 2023

Stephen C. Meyer is an American philosopher of science, a vocal advocate for intelligent design, and a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture. He is known for his work promoting the theory of intelligent design and his criticism of evolutionary theory. Meyer has written several books on the subject, including “Signature in the Cell: DNA and the Evidence for Intelligent Design” and “Darwin’s Doubt: The Explosive Origin of Animal Life and the Case for Intelligent Design.”

Meyer argues that certain features of the natural world, particularly the complexity of biological systems and the information contained in DNA, cannot be adequately explained by Darwinian evolution and that they are best attributed to the action of an intelligent designer. His work has been both praised and criticized within the scientific community, with supporters considering him a leading proponent of intelligent design and critics dismissing his arguments as pseudoscience.

It’s worth noting that the scientific consensus within the biological community strongly supports the theory of evolution through natural selection as the best explanation for the diversity and complexity of life on Earth. The theory of intelligent design, advocated by Meyer, is not widely accepted within the scientific community, as it is seen as lacking empirical evidence and not meeting the criteria of a scientific theory.

OMG, DRM free Joe Rogan?! No Spotify bullshit? What is this magic?!

I prefer to watch Donut Operator. Sometimes the cops fuck up and kill someone because they went to the wrong address, but most of the time it's some fuckwit who pulls a gun on a cop.

I really don't give a fuck if they're poor, if they're also stupid. i think the bigger problem is telling poor stupid people they're perpetual victims of cops (when they're not statistically) and therefore they always fight and get killed, when if they didn't, they'd survive and get caught and released (in a blue city) or spend a few months in jail and learn nothing (in a red city).

Teaching people their rights and how to handle yourself and de-escalate with a cop would go a long way in making the world better for cops and people.

The trick here is I'm scouting yaj and the like for cameras with lenses I want. I got a busted 9xi earlier that had a nice 28-300 lens on it.

Woah, actual for real film. Interesting.

I have an a6000 with a Tamron 18-200 lens, and a Nikon Z6 with an 18-400 lens .... I use to maintain a daily photo blog at https://journeyofkhan.us but it hasn't been maintained/updated in years

Oldest, youngest, coolest, dumbest, just as long as one agrees we are the best mail-order mind control cult in the market today at this price range, offering eternal salvation or triple your money back, J. R. “Bob” Dobbs will gladly accept your money and accidentally bring you slack.

... but ... no one can ask for their money back until they're dead .. and you're dead ...

I just use dnsmasq on top of of unbound on my router. My ISP could still see all the unbound requests to root servers, so if I cared more, I could use DNS-over-HTTPS to a VM somewhere ... but I have a local ISP and don't think it matters too much :blobcatshrug:
