Democracy does not work. The incentives are all wrong.

People will not vote for someone that promises to change the current scenario if that requires first to endure in hard times.

But thats how you fix things. You make some steps backs, you cut costs and make long term investments. For a change in the paradigm is fundamental to have this low time preference.

Instead, politicians are incentivized to promise short term benefits to everyone, and when they get to power, and : or they don’t do that and are boycotted, or they are forced to go through their promises. This pretty much just makes the country worse than it started, less capital is provided for long term investments and debt compounds.

In the end, the people are more poorer, and they demand a change, and the same thing happens.

Politicians are incentived to lie and the plebs are incentivized to demand short term benefits

The sad truth is the majority of voters are not educated enough to vote. But in the end, i stick to democracy values and i will still choose it over any other politican system.

Even though it is severely flawed, its the people in power and they should be, cause it their country
