I create Fediverse software that empowers people online. I'm vegan btw. Note: If you have a question for me, please tag me publicly. This gives the opportunity for others to chime in, and bystanders to learn.

I made a Margarita Mule. Or a Smoky Ginger Margarita, however you want to say it.

Is Nostr is layer 3 why doesn't ransomware tell you to Nostr them over the Lightning network?

I need to sign things on Nostr. I need to install an nsexbunker

Ruby is the worst programming language in common use. I don't even want to hear complains about JavaScript. At least I can tell where code is coming from without searching the whole codebase. Ruby is fraternal knowledge, and its secrets are stupid.

The resource is actually a URI, and acct URIs are whole internet identifiers including the host. You can actually webfinger URIs beginning with https, or mailto, or nostr, for example.

Fun things you can do with internet identifiers like alex@gleasonator.com:

Webfinger (used by ActivityPub)

Nostr NIP-05

Bitcoin Lightning (dumb method)

Bitcoin Lightning (other dumb method)

Email???

These should probably all be part of Webfinger, since Webfinger was designed to do all of it.

Also it would be neat to build a little React app where you can enter an internet identifier, and it pulls all these URLs to give information about what it all supports.

There are so many holes in the Lightning network, it is actually still very porous and possible to change. For something with so much money at stake, maybe it's easier to break into than one would think?

I wonder if Nostr could just replace Lightning as the Layer 2 instead of trying to be a Layer 3. You have users with keypairs who publish signed events, so they should be able to do all the things like opening "channels" directly in Nostr. Right?

Ditto only supports Nostr zaps within Nostr. The only ActivityPub stuff I've even added to Ditto so far are actor endpoints. Ditto is actually just a Nostr community relay with Mastodon API support, and I'm still working out the basic product and functionality of that before I add true ActivityPub support. Which I might add as an optional microservice. The real utility of Ditto will be for ActivityPub people to use Nostr with all the apps they already use, and to attract moderated communities to Nostr on an infrastructure level instead of just a protocol level. They will be able to use the bridge to stay connected with ActivityPub in the first release of Ditto, until true support is added.

Only with Ditto. You can use Soapbox with Mastodon, Pleroma, Ditto, and any other backend which implements the base Mastodon API. It has feature detection and enables features only if the backend supports it. Ditto now supports a Mastodonic Zap API, and Soapbox will now work with it.

Yes, but it's a controversial gimmick, and most real and true water enthusiasts don't drink it regularly, even though they may have tried it.
