This is a Shakespeare thing?

I'm curious if it integrates with trymaple.ai? AFAIK, maple doesn't integrate with vscode which is currently a bit of a downer for me.

I agree with this.

Its super easy to explain that this tech does not work via credit, its like a full reserve bank account.

Acinq needs to pre allocate funds for you to be able to receive payments and they can't do creative accounting, so there is a natural cost and bringing those costs down requires learning the tech in more depth, so where do you want to start?

At the end of the day, bitcoin is a hard money, there are no free lunches and it's a small cost to get started.

We're developing our own implementations of text-to-speech and speech-to-text to use in #GrapheneOS which are entirely open source and avoid using so-called 'open' models without the training data available. Instead, we're making a truly open source implementation of both where all of the data used for it is open source. If you don't want to use our app for local text-to-speech and speech-to-text then you don't need to use it. Many people need this and want a better option.

We are working on TTS first then SST. The TTS training data is LJ Speech https://keithito.com/LJ-Speech-Dataset/ and the model used is our own fork of Matcha-TTS.

If people want they can fork it and add/remove/change the training data in any way they see fit. It's nothing like the so-called "open" models from OpenAI, Facebook, etc. where the only thing that's open are the neural network weights after training with no way to know what they used to train it and no way to reproduce that.

Many blind users asked us to include one of the existing open source TTS apps so they could use it to obtain a better app. None of the available open source apps meets our requirements for reasonable licensing, privacy, security or functionality. Therefore, we've developed our own text-to-speech which will be shipping soon, likely in January. We'll also be providing our own speech-to-text. We're using neural networks for both which we're making ourselves.

Have you heard of FUTO and their open source keyboard and their open source LLM based text speech?

Maybe a good starting point?

FYI it worked, but not sure why it was slow.

Also I didn't get the point with that demo. I need to spend some time with this. I'll bookmark this and come back to it πŸ™‚

βš‘οΈπŸ”” A YEAR PASSES TOGETHER - One year is a complete revolution of the Earth around the Sun.

Today, nostr:nprofile1qqsy67zzq5tc9cxnl6crf52s4hptdwhyaca5j7r8jwll535tdadedvcprpmhxue69uhhqun9d45h2mfwwpexjmtpdshxuet5qy28wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hsat8e57 closes its challenge and honors its promise: to inform you for a full year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day β€” weekends and public holidays included.

At first, I wanted to end on a high note. I had countless ideas: making a video edited by myself, coding a website for the occasion, doing a live stream… Then I remembered the best advice I received here: β€œStay humble.”

So I’ll keep it simple.

First and foremost, please know that I am proud to have kept you informed for an entire year, with transparency, consistency, and objectivity. Believe it or not, all my notes have only one intention: to convey the truth. If some of them have upset you, that's not my problem; it's just that reality is sometimes harsh.

Here is my latest POW, the complete summary:

βž₯ 11,500 + 19,100 = 30,600 activity traces

βž₯ 30,600 / 365 = 83.83 activity traces per day

βž₯ 19,100 / 365 = 52.33 notes per day

βž₯ 8 Γ— 365 = 2,920 hours of work

Result:

βž₯ 0 β†’ 16,500 followers

βž₯ 0 β†’ 5 million sats

I gave myself the means to achieve this. If you follow me, you know that I was present in your feed at any time of the day, without any automation. I swear. Everything was done by hand. The Flash touch is visible on each of my notesβ€”that's what defines my work.

I didn't meet all my goals, but I exceeded some of them. For example, I didn't expect to reach 16,500 followers; I was aiming for 5,000.

On the other hand, where I failed was on the stack. I expected to reach at least 0.1 BTC. In the end, I barely managed to reach half that β€” until yesterday, I was still at 0.04 BTC.

But there is also something that was not planned for, and which far exceeds all the numerical targets mentioned above: your trust.

My greatest achievement is having managed to earn it. Honestly, it was not something I had included in my forecasts. Trust cannot be planned or forcedβ€”it is built, day after day, note after note.

Beyond the numbers, that's what really matters. Everything can be measured except trust. And yet, today on Nostr, that's my most valuable asset.

Not to mention the wonderful people I have met here. For fear of forgetting anyone, I won't mention any names, but know this: I know your usernames, your photos, your writing style, your way of zapping. I have observed everything, taken everything into consideration, with the utmost respect. Thank you all, you have been the fuel for Flash, because without you I would have stopped a long time ago.

Before I leave you, I would sincerely like your feedback:

βž₯ What did you think of Flash’s work throughout 2025?

βž₯ What do you expect from me for the coming year?

As they say, it’s at the end of the dance that the musicians get paid. Here are the two ways to support my work ‡︎

βž₯ Lightning address: flash@primal.net

βž₯ Bitcoin address: bc1qwn8ralumqgar7vqfhftr264a7dxp0akstwx9fq

In a sense, I think you provide both signal and noise, but you help make my feed feel "normal". I think it's worth a subscription like payment at the end of the year. Merry christmas and happy new year.

I don't know any PDF editors with a blank tool to be fair, and what is the correct way to do it anyway? I would think replace the text with black blocks and then place a black rectangle over it anyway because it looks prettier?

Problem is that the original text is likely not monospaced font, maybe I'm overthinking this.

Shit like this is a test. The humane understanding of this should be that this is clear censorship forcing propaganda and silencing and hurting your fellow man.

The government that we entrust so much power to should not do such things, we should fight against this behavior.

Unfortunately, we have nurtured a culture of excuses:

- it doesn't affect me, so it's not my fight.

- we can't do anything, the government does what it wants, they are our overlords.

- our government has a good heart, its for a good and peaceful western society.

If you don't fight for them now, don't expect people to fight for you when it does affect you.

I've been using AI to write docs and organise them for me. I think this is gonna be a good way for me to learn complex topics like this and then have a way to recall things later since the docs are based on the questions **I** ask.

Well, its a lot more bread... 🀷

E cash is custodial bitcoin. That's it.

Its still better than Coinbase because of privacy but the people won't see that until we have a consumer friendly product that USES e cash, not an e cash product that is user friendly.

Think kagi search.

Shaving off the milimeters from the depth huh?

Tim Cook would be proud.

Consumer fingerprint based products and services are not uploading your fingerprints anywhere.

Fingerprint at border control is evil, but the ones on your phone or laptops are not the same.

Think of it this way:

When you type a password into a website, you are giving them (the website) the secret and they validate it.

When you use your fingerprint to authenticate to an online service/app, your computer checks your fingerprint and reports the result to the service. Your fingerprint (the secret) and all of the material you gave to set up fingerprint recognition (the identifier) all remain local and private.

Services need to trust your device for it to work because they are getting second hand information so they need to know and trust the middleman on your phone which is facilitated using cryptography developed to be used between them and your device manufacturer of course.

Socialism. But also now look again, have people been lifted from poverty or has a bigger majority of people been brought closer to poverty instead?
