I don't know any PDF editors with a blank tool to be fair, and what is the correct way to do it anyway? I would think replace the text with black blocks and then place a black rectangle over it anyway because it looks prettier?

Problem is that the original text is likely not monospaced font, maybe I'm overthinking this.

I think the PDF format is a discrete collection of objects, and what we see is them laid out (black areas on top of the text areas). If printed, it's all good, but if on a PDF reader (and, I assumed it hasn't been flattened), then.. 😅
