Peeliñg back the skin on mainstream social media. All those hunches that something changed in the 2010's to ruin a good idea. It's Nostr's time now https://youtu.be/kc_Jq42Og7Q?feature=shared
With temperatures in Spain ranging in the high 30's to low 40C, chickens will struggle to drink, feed and eventually, lay.
Chickens are pretty resilient birds, but, if you have ever been severely dehydrated yourself, you will appreciate how hard it would be for chickens that go beyond hot and thirsty, to make themselves drink, let alone eat. A vicious downward spiral can soon kick in, depleting resources and resolve. When heat stroke kicks in, it doesn't take long for a bird to weaken physically and mentally and slowly pass away.
So what can you do to help hot-winged chickens cope in the peak heat of summer? Primarily, you need to look out for them, just like I needed assistance when I was dehydrating!
**Tell tale signs of dehydration **
First sign of heat stress is the open beak panting. They flex their wings too, to increase airflow. If they are in a bad way, their combs start to deteriorate from bright red to grey-pink and droop to one side. They lose their drive to be a busy-body and settle down in a quiet spot. If nothing is done, they will fade away quietly....

This an excerpt from an original article on [Olive Grove Eggs](https://olive-grove-eggs.ghost.io/chickens-dehydrating/).
I'm a big Nostr fan, and I will post extended summaries of original articles here, and link in from Nostr clients and from outside the ecosystem, to help raise awareness of Nostr.
Selfish hat on, for me, the more use cases for Nostr, the sooner I will be able to orangepill my readers and egg-buying customers into joining Nostr. Once onboard, the sky is the limit. My aim is to run my business on Nostr, use bitcoin lightening as currency, cut ties to the other internet and blaze along clear roads to hyper bitcoinsation! Mwahaha
Oh, I thought I selected a divider when formatting a post in habla.news, but it looks like it was a code box. Oops.I guess censorship resistance means my voof will be there to taunt me forever
I'm starting a small local business and as we speak, integrating Bitcoin into every level of the plan. It is becoming clearer all the time how it's going to work in a fiat world
As a savings tool, BTC in, hodl it.
As currency,- BTC in, convert to euros and spend it on justifiable business exoenses, no cap gain tax event, just account for it as income.
As it stands, to live with a true bitcoin standard,, at some point it is kind of leaving it to someone in the chain to cash out into fiat. Unless an accountan ist able to fill the big gap in my knowledge, this is the process:
Capital gains tax issue especially when number is going up. One solution to keep the business itrading all in BTC, is to line up suppliers in advsnce who will accept Bitcoin. When I receive BTC from a sale, I send it straight to a feed supplier for example, as a payment against an order. I always need feed, or the chickens will, I mean. No profits made. So I'm alright, for cap gains
But all that does is pass the buck, unless the supplier has ways to spend their bitcoin too.
I know in a circular economy bitcoin is brilliant as currency, but I'm not sure how to sell the ides to others without having to admit that without cashing out into fiat and spending it, bitcoin is more a matter of philosophy IE we are proving we believe in it even though it is costing either hard cash, excuse the terminology, or tve ridicule of having to rely on fiat to make it work for daily business.
So it makes no hard business sense day to day.. but magic as a treaury asset
Obviously if the tax office were to drop the Cap Gain penalty for day to day use that's the game changer
To balance it out. I guess, you could just make losses, in a bear market,? holding back efore you spend BTC.
Anyway, if relying on fiat to make it work day to day is the only option, so be it. Greater minds than mine no doubt see the nuts and bolts that need to be tweaked to get to an easier usage of BTC for everything.
Am I missing anything obvious?

Hi. You must have been tutored by a Nostr pro. I never knew about #introduction
1400w would blow my off-grid power set-up. Can the #bitaxe go lower?
#nos2x-fox Can anyone help #asknostr
I have set up the extension mobile and desktop, using my public-private key with a json profile.
1 - Why doesn't the extension log me in using the profile I have set up?
eg The extension seems to generate a random npub on the first smaller screen display and use that when I try to login to say Nostr Chat, rather than npub I have installed on the main dashboard.
Am I missing some sort of selection button for the account I want to login with, or am I missing the point of what the extension does!
2 - I have logged into nostrchat as my desired npub with the extension, but when I tried a chat, Nostrchat requested my private key to reply. That doesn't seem right.
When I land on a nostr friendy site the extension pops up as expected and I can authorize time limits, which seem to be reflected in the "revoke" info on the dashboard. And zapping works OK too. So it is functioning, just I have not got it going slick
3 - I went on wavlake and zapped with the blessing of the extension!
But...epic fail with trying to "login with Nostr". nos2x-fox was nowhere to be found. Maybe that's a wavlake issue? Any ideas welcome
Cheers
Thanks, I'm there. And number 5000 on the account wait list.
entering the dangerous phase of adopting Nostr!. Stated off simple and seemed to work, but now Not sure what the event signers are doing, if anything. I thought Alby was desktop, but it flashed up on my mobile phone. #nos2x-fox desktop seems more present but it seems to generate random npubs while seeming to be set on my default one, which I want to use. And #Amber doesn't appear to be doing anything. I tried logging into primal and nothing popped up as a signer. Amber dashboard literally says go try out an app which I did hoping Amber wound deal with login. Any guiding hand most welcome. I want to get this worked out because I'm determined to make Nostr my home.
Great advice. Decentralise the food system is a catchy phrase.
Whereabouts are you?
I'm working on setting up about 400 chickens, free ranging in olive groves in Spain
As well as laying the best of eggs they can regenerate the land and fertiliser the trees as they go about their day. They will sleep and lay in mobile coops which get moved every 3 days, so they can be outside all day intensive grazing - poop and scratch to their hearts' Content- without overloading the soil.
In Spain, small scale olive groves can't generate enough to live on without subsidies. Without irrigation it's a two year cycle of good harvests and you need a lot of hectares to make them pay.
Egg business is very profitable and year round. The idea is to create a blueprint for a supplementary business. Provide coop designs, all the equipment and set up costs, plus all the laborious paperwork, licenses, a marketing plan, website and billing etc all done, and offer a full starter package 'How To' Then get it out there to try develop a network of olive farmers doing the same.
The egg business also lends itself to developing a local circular economy which obviously needs to be backed by bitcoin.
Eggs are not just brilliant food, they open doors. Offer someone a dozen fresh eggs, no one can resist and without me asking, I can see folks they look around for something to offer in return, some veg from the garden, a drink... They are a great catalyst for economic activity and hopefully when I am set up, I will have a good excuse to orange pill a bunch of people.
A bit more of a first wave than you probably expected 😁 but that's eggs for you, cheers.
You guys crack me up with your podcast ads. Good luck raising the bar to infinitely amusing.
Perhaps someone should tell Mr Kroos that immigration is also a big deal in Spain. But based on the experience of this immigrant who has been all over Spain, the general feeling is that wherever you are amongst people of all colours and creeds and economic status, the overriding sense is tvst this country is super safe. It is safer here than pretty much anywhere else - at least since Spain got rid of their own dictator.
It makes one question how bad Germany really is when I watch the mainstream media version of Spain. They will have viewers believe the country is overrun with drunken Brits, only people of colour stab, and don't go to the beach unless you sre prepared to dodge a drug running speed boat ploughing through the umbrella-ed sun worshippers chased by cops. Cheers

Very nice. The word verdant comes to mind. Hard to get that effect where I live without lots of extra water, mulch up to your eye balls and shade cloth. One day I will get round to making sure I have all three at once.

Amen, brother. Apart from the neuroplasticity part, thats my experience too. Everyone was breaking rocks, as my mate once described most businesses marketing themselves in our industry 15 years ago. I got my head around the magic online marketing formula:
- Write engaging real life articles on WordPress for humans, but make sure Google bots found it useful too IE good SEO, and building a few columns IE categories with lots plenty of reinforcing content.
- Take snippets from the article and reach out on Twitter, which til 2014 was an excellent place to hang out before it evolved into troll-ville.
- Eventually you build an online community which then drums up enquiries. That was the part we really nailed.
The industry norm was to keep potential clients hanging waiting for days if not weeks for a call- back or quotes. We set ourselves up so we could call back within 2 hours and get the quote out within 24 hours.
The face-to-face interactions reinforced the online picture we presented. We actually delivered what we claimed online. People appreciated that and trusted us. Securing work was like falling off a rock.
It's a tried and tested way that works. There are many efforts to try cut corners or do things better - like dump websites and the blogging which most people find tiresome, and build a company with a FaceBook business page. To think you can build trust with one liners and a photo twice a day is pretty naive, but while it was a trend, just had to hold my tongue.
Anyway, I'm sure AI is going to spawn many short cuts and do just fine til everyone realises the points you are making. I wanna do business with people not robots.
Sorry if that was a ramble.
Awww, cutey varmint. #catsr They had the best mother cat a kitten could hope for. Imagine my surprise when they emerged from a stone wall and took up residence next to the house.
These are last of the bloodline. I learnt the hard way, you gotta be on top of the repro situation else the population soon gets out of hand and cats are no longer cute, but just another pest.
If all users dont post at least one cat pic on Nostr it surely fails the test for social media for the masses. #catsr #cats
Hi Stacks. Catch them mice, bring them in the house to dismember; crap in the plant pots before you lay on the laptop and tail text while ordering your dinner with a side of mackerel else you won't eat it. #cats
So much for asking Nostr! For what it's worth I have no idea what the answer is :)
