As a Gen Z with this aspiration, I believe this would be near impossible without saving in bitcoin. Wife would never be able to leave her job to raise kids at home, wouldn’t have the ability to own a house someday, etc. It will be absolutely dope to have the biggest family possible. Soon

What’s a great first podcast episode for a total newb to learn about bitcoin?

Story time:

6 years ago my mother in law was left penniless in a surprise divorce at age 67.

My father in law (piece of shit) had left her with nothing and planned to dump her on social security.

She was working as a pre school teacher making $14 an hour.

We had to move fast.

Father in law literally shotgun divorced her.

Showed up at the doorstep with a notary and manipulated an emotionally fragile woman into a binding legal agreement.

I was pissed.

I showed up a few hours later with a series of financial plans.

And with tears still streaming down her face in the kitchen of her tiny apartment, she picked one.

I gave her 3 options.

1. Aggressive

2. Extremely aggressive

3. Dave Ramsey rice and beans

She chose number 3.

Over the next 4 years she rode her bike to work everyday. Watered down her lemonade. Spent nothing on herself. Walked dogs for extra income. Took weekend shifts at the preschool. Showed up early. Stayed late and against all odds was able to save 12k a year on a salary of only 27k.

I set up a couple retirement accounts for her and whenever she would scratch $1,000 together she would give it to me and I would smash buy GBTC or MSTR.

My mother in law has never invested a day in her life and I didn’t want the news or some boomer friend to freak her out, so my wife and I just tell her she’s invested in “the market” 😂

When Bitcoin (the market) is doing good, we tell her and when it’s not we just… don’t tell her lol

So she’s effectively shielded from the emotional volatility of hodling. Which makes her a very good hodler.

Fast forward to today.

I helped her retire from the preschool. She is now living with us and helping look after her grandchildren.

She went from being near suicidal. My wife and I were legitimately concerned about her mental health. To a happy healthy and vibrant grandmother.

And as of yesterday she crossed 500k in retirement accounts.

I expect she’ll be a millionaire soon.

She can now comfortably retire with dignity.

This is not something that would have been possible without Bitcoin.

As cool as it is to see people like @saylor make billions of dollars these are the stories I live for.

The average person fixing their life with bitcoin.

It’s so fucking beautiful man.

Life’s good.

My in-laws are in there 60s still working physical labor jobs and living paycheck to paycheck. They plan to rely on social security until it runs out. It’s awful to think many people are in this situation. Your story gives me hope to start setting aside some Bitcoin savings in their name that they would have left in dollars anyways so they can retire some day

As bitcoin price continues to rise, your time preference should get lower. We’re in this for the long run gents

I've had the same thing happen to me three times. I'm a fool.

But I learn.

Semi popular bitcoin influencers whose content I enjoy, youtubers and podcasters not the OG content creators. New guys, good content. I have had them pop onto nostr and make a post that follows along these lines.

"Show me where the plebs are at, I need to follow more plebs on #nostr #this #that #bitcoin"

I see many comments of guys saying, "yo, here, me, hi, cool" as a reply to his post and sometimes I am one of those.

Then a couple of days later I go look and they did not follow any of those reply's. Maybe a few, but It sort of made me feel like they are just saying it to farm their existing followers for interaction to sort of gauge the engagement and reach their posts.

I find it disingenuous and low. Pisses me off. Don't bring your youtube/facebook/twitty algorithmic habits and apply it on your potential nostr followers. We are not a metric we are legion. Here we are equals from the poorest pleb to the most OG bitcoiners. On Youtube and Facebook you can use the algo to measure and guage your audience but on NOSTR we are on a level playing field.

Treat us like humans and not like cattle. If you want mutual respect.

Secondly, with regards to these influencers bringing their TwitFace ways to nostr, I did not join nostr to learn or see interesting things, though I must admit that I am very frequently pleasantly surprised by the humour, memes, ingenuity, common sense and intellect all around. I enjoy zapping people for saying these things.

I am using nostr as therapy to finally release all the pent up frustration I've harboured by self censorship and abstaining from centralised social media for years. I finally have creative outlet and all I really wanted to do is write my Bitcoin themed scifi story and share it with whoever finds it interesting.

I decided that I am not following anyone except those who follow me giving me a more diversified and non echo chamber feed.

So influencer dumbasses. If you want plebs to follow you, do the hard work and find them yourself, find something you like that they said and zap em. If they are original and interesting give them a follow. They will follow you if they find the same of you and then at least you would have earned it.

Umkay? Annoying twitface behaviour.

Proof of work. This is the way.

I never touched twitter and don’t ever plan to. Nostr feels different from every other platform

Anyone else glad they discovered Bitcoin so they can watch this crummy reality show we call an election through a different lense? Gm

Getting that first zap on Nostr is powerful stuff.

B - Government is designed to extract as much wealth as possible from the productive and pay themselves the spoils.

Once you put in the work to truly understand bitcoin, every month feels like you’re in the green because the fundamentals remain intact. It can’t be inflated away, it can’t be confiscated, it travels with you across borders, it makes everything around you cheaper, and it just can’t be compared with.

It is the apex predator.

You have the winning hand with freedom like you’ve never had before.
