A Soviet front line soldier reflecting on how the Soviet system bred the future generations it wanted

“During the war, the meanness of the Bolshevik system was especially clearly manifested. Just as in peacetime the arrests and executions of the most hard-working, honest, intelligent, active and reasonable people were carried out, so the same thing happened at the front, but in an even more open, disgusting form. I will give an example. An order comes from the highest levels: "take the heights." The regiment storms it week after week, losing many people every day. Reinforcements are continuous, there is no shortage of people. But among them are swollen dystrophies from Leningrad, to whom doctors have just prescribed bed rest and increased nutrition for three weeks. Among them are babies born in 1926, that is, fourteen-year-olds who are not subject to conscription into the army... Finally, some soldier or lieutenant, platoon commander, or captain, company commander (which is less common), seeing this blatant outrage, exclaims: "You can't kill people! There, on the high ground was a concrete bunker! And all we have is a 76-millimeter gun! It won't penetrate it!" Immediately, the political commissar, SMERSH counter-intelligence, and the tribunal get involved. One of the soldiers is an informer, they are plentiful in every unit. He then testifies: "Yes, in the presence of soldiers, he doubted our victory." They quickly fill out a prepared form, where only the surname needs to be written, and it's done: "To be shot in front of the formation!" or "To be sent to a penal battalion!", which is the same thing. This is how the most honest people, who felt responsible to society, perished. And the rest, "Forward, to attack! There were no fortresses that the Bolsheviks couldn't take!" Meanwhile, the Germans dug into the ground, creating a whole labyrinth of trenches and shelters. Good lucky trying to get them out! It was a stupid, senseless killing of our soldiers. One must think, this selection of the Russian people is a time bomb: it will explode in a few generations, in the 21st or 22nd century when the mass of scoundrels selected and nurtured by the Bolsheviks will give rise to new generations like themselves."
