Nearest I've tasted in the UK is Chilean Guava (Ugni molinae), fruits like the most fragrant pink candy. But mine pretty much killed by the -12˚C frosts :(

Permanent living ground cover is one of the key guidelines of a #ForestGarden, so I'm really into chunky perennials like sedums. I've planted a couple of different strawberries, Beach Strawberry (Fragaria chiloensis) has done really well here as a ground cover, Green Strawberry (Fragaria viridis) pretty good too.
