We need the #US to lead on #China—and if necessary impose costs on those undermining our actions. The situation is now at a crucial, and perhaps critical, point.

#China is not going to change its behavior unless it is forced to do so. The #G7 issued a lowest-common-denominator statement and did not take any meaningful action to force the Chinese to adopt responsible policies.

This #G7 statement on #China is, in a word, pathetic. It might have been appropriate two decades ago, but certainly not now.
