The best achievement for me of learning Cantonese is that now i can read aloud things all written in Chinese characters. I loved to learn Chinese old poets at schools but e we had to rewrite them into Japanese (漢文訓読/kanbun-kundoku). But know i can read these kanji in Cantonese pronunciation directly, without translation into Japanese.

It’s 11pm in Japan. Sad but true.
