In principle, no.

SHSS is just HFSP, in passive-aggressive.

Being used to moving money through SEPA, I have always found silly the claim that Bitcoin (and crypto in general) has a strong use case in that.

SEPA is instantaneous and mostly free, so how is Bitcoin better?

Now I operate through ACH and within the US system, and I totally get it.

I swear, sometimes the US is worse than most third world countries at the moat basic stuff...

This is fucking discouraging.

On iOS, I switched to Nostur and have never looked back.

Zero crashes, zero follow lists lost, zero notes sent to the ether, faster, better usability and features, etc.

It's been kind of chilly these days actually. You never know, when spring can... spring on you.

I just heard that in fact, the attack has begun: two days ago the socialist government of Spain issued an executive order defining the concept of social media and internet "influencer" and mandating that whoever fits the definition register on a government list and subject them to government-mandated content regulation.

The excuse of course, once again, is "to protect children" and "to protect consumers" by mandating content labeling and advertising.

All this is already regulated, so clearly the real intent to target certain content creators with mass following must be something else... Incoming, no doubt.

Nature's gift to the human species.

It makes lists, and the relays censor. That's the problem. Idiots running Nostr relays emulating editorialists, and thus inviting the State to regulate them into compliance. It's the death of Nostr.

The slippery slope is real. There's no such thing as the truly "disgusting posts" as meaning "worth censoring". There is no objective line or definition, so it inevitable creeps until it eats up everything.

I am from a school of thought that prefers 1000 guilty criminals free over 1 single innocent convicted, can't help it.

One of the big defects of Nostr as a social media protocol is that you're unable to block people from reading your content, instead of just blocking you from reading theirs. We wouldn't have this problem.

I read the Github page and I see they promote this trash as optional, but to be implemented both by relays and clients.

I've said this so many times it's not funny anymore -- the moment these morons start to fuck with relay-level editorializing, that's when they open the door to being targeted and eventually prosecuted for the content they host, and that's how Nostr dies in the long term.

I guess they just can't help themselves, and rather poison the network instead of getting their fee-fees hurt by words on occasion.

This is exactly the note I wanted to post yesterday.

And I add that it is very obviously an internationally coordinated campaign. In Spain it's the current socialist government getting ready for a full assault on media.

The PM's wife is under investigation due to corruption charges and he came up with this bizarre move last week threatening to resign and calling for "popular support".

He didn't get any, but that didn't matter. He announced that he would make the personal sacrifice to stay in power with a renewed focus on fighting against "hatred and lies" in media.

The point here isn't about the particular color and name of the wannabe dictator in Spain. It would have happened under the other party, just with a different excuse. If they have to come up with such bizarre excuses though it's because they have already passed all sorts of censorship laws and have a record of attacking, sending to prison and financially ruining whoever opposes the status quo. And apparently now they want more.

Someone pushed a button and all their minions are at work this year simultaneously, all of a sudden.

I'm not a climate doom cultist, but the point this gentleman in the video thinks is making, just with what he's saying without further backing, is not the gotcha he thinks it is. Precisely because the amount of CO2 is so relatively small, it is relatively easy to make it out of whack.

Again, I'm not making any claims other than pointing out at a faulty logic.
