Yeah in pioneer days work was just outside the home on the farm. Work isn't like that now a days. Private schooling is vastly entirely too expensive for me to afford. Give me another 2 epochs then maybe.

The entire gov funding schooling system sucks. Were all well aware of this. Unfortunately having all kids be able to be home schooled is not an option.

So today when i pick up my daughters from school today. The oldest is all excited with a piece of paper in her hand. I asked her what it was, she said it was her permission slip to go on her field trip to go to the Zoo.

I proceed to read the note. The teacher sent this note out to ask the parents that she wanted to take the kids to the Zoo. Due to the PTA board being dissolved for some reason she couldnt get ANY funding approved for the trip. So she was asking all the parents if they could support paying for the trip for their child and if this was too burdensome for any family to do she'd understand. I felt bad for my daughter cuz i know she seemed super excited for this trip to the zoo.

The trip costs $21 dollars per kid. Her class size is 32 students. Can we raise a million or so sats here to pay for the entire class to go?

Id be forever grateful to be able to pay for her class to go and help the parents out there that cant afford to be able to spend this money for their child. I dont ask for satoshis like this but i think this is a worthwhile idea to do for my child and hwr class to experience the zoo.

Looks like I was able to get this working again, sort of. It says I'm connected to 9-11 relays, but only shows that I have 100 followers (and even Jack only about 40, so it has to be a data gap), and very few notes on timelines (with obvious gaps even for hugely active accounts). Relay.damus.io never seems to pass me any data (0kb both up and down) to me, which j assume is due to my connection coming via Tor, but honestly I don't know. I'm connecting using Amethyst, if anybody sees this and has any ideas—what's the best, biggest relay for Tor users right now?

Secondly, and most importantly for anyone who sees this note, please make some noise to try and stop the passage of RISAA (the FISA 702 reauthorization) that's about to hit law as soon as this Friday. Please read about it and push it out on all of your socials, if you agree it's a problem. It's going to be hard to stop this thing, even with all hands.

People use TikTok because it’s brilliantly designed with amazing features, not because they don’t also care about freedom. They made their way to TikTok because up until about a year ago, TikTok was the only big social platform where they could reliably find trending topics — aka information situated in time — and it was the only platform where normal people could go viral. That is why I keep saying the most important thing about getting Nostr to really take off will be the combo of searchability and shareability. We already situate ourselves in time / chronology.
