Apple says that the tipping feature conflicts with their in-app purchase mechanism but how exactly would the in-app purchase mechanism be implemented in #Damus to replace the tipping feature? So #Ledger has started to censor post on their Reddit. If they censor your speech today, they will censor your #crypto transactions tomorrow.

The bottom line of this #Ledger Recover debacle is that because the code is closed source, your seed is secure to the extent that you trust Ledger to push code that keep it secure. This is nothing new but certainly a realization for many. One remediation for Ledger would be to open source their code. This would probably present some security trade-offs but Ledger credibility had been undermined to such a extent, that it is probably the move for them to do going forward. #crypto

Ironically, #Ledger Recover relies on identity verification to recover the seed even though they had a major hack leaking customers’ information such as first name, last name, email and physical address. It seems like a recipe for disaster with mass attempts of identity impersonation. #crypto

#Ledger Recover is the Trojan horse, the move from governments to confiscate your bitcoins like they did with gold in 1933. Future upgrades will require KYC to transact which will lead to the confiscation of your bitcoins. Not sure if Ledger will survive long enough though, customers are really pissed off. #crypto

If #Ledger had a business interest in mind, they would have created a new product line for their « Recover » service. Here they destroyed their reputation and are going to lose a huge chunk of their customer base. It would have been so much smarter to create a « Ledger Normies » and make extra $$$.
