Does the west have an economy ?
I invite you to sit with that question for a moment. It's kind of an odd question. Odder still is the statement: "...The west does not have an economy." It would be so easy to dismiss that statement.
Think about that word.
Greek oikonomia "household management, thrift...".
The old meaning of the word implied, "saving" , spending sparsely. The modern expansion on the meaning is more about large systems and their interactions and less about their budgets or austerity.
Just sit with that for a few moments and how that affects how we think about the direction of society and ourselves in it, in the first place.
We already do not operate in an economy. Economists are not experts in nor do they study an economy. They study spending.
The suggested antonym for economy is "waste" or "Extravangance", no direct latin opposite exist, that is how alien our situation is.
Perhaps we are thus in an Ex-onomy, with Exonomist experts advsing policy, making news media, directing war.
All pretence of former things are completely gone. An entirely new science is needed to study this artificial thing. Unrestrained Excess means unrestrained death.
Yes, we could spend 1 trillion on war and convert the world to Coca-Cola, but why ? If for instance, synthetic direvatives and insured debt, CBDC's, Peta-billions in interest payments actually work, and "save" the economy, it will not really be economic, will it ?
We need new words, new science, new language.
Maybe we had an economy until the day men gained the ability to create money out of thin air. Then, there aren’t many reasons to manage resources rather than outspend your competitors in order to acquire more resources. This is true until hyperinflation hits you….
There are multiple way savings will be confiscated. A few years ago the E.U. allowed a mechanism of bail-in. I think every bank account above $100k is subject to the mechanism.
It’s one more piece of infrastructure that is needed to make their system functional. It’s not the first and it won’t be the last…
Or they have to do it to keep people under control when their entitlements will take a haircut…
It would be less concerning if citizens had effective democratic mechanisms to prevent or revert any abusive use of this #DigitalID system by unelected parties. But since this is not the case we know that this system will ultimately lead to some sort of digital communist #dystopia and yes, #KYC to access the internet will be part of it. It would be foolish to think that this is not their intentions.
The European Parliament and Member States just reached an agreement on introducing the #DigitalIdentity paving the way for #CBDC, #SocialCreditScore and the #BioState.

Off the list I provided, only #Ethereum is expanding via L2. I named Ethereum because it’s the first blockchain that brought smart contracts enabling #Defi. Like it or not, you can’t say it’s not an innovation. Other blockchains have features/use cases not covered by #Bitcoin or are looking to scale DeFi or payments on L1.
It’s funny you mention #Lightning as a major vulnerability just got uncovered. Also, Lightning is just not Bitcoin.
You’re looking at the wrong #eCash. Here is the one I’m referring to https://e.cash/ . It’s actually a fork of #BitcoinCash and développer by the founding #BCH team. They aim to scale P2P payment on-chain with sub-second finality. They already implemented 1-block finality.
